Takeover talks not going great

Clearly then there are no monied people interested. Sounds like it’s pretty much a load of chancers. We are in real trouble until that debt goes and the debt ain’t going very far in the third division.

Very worrying and doesn’t bode well for the short term.

Yep. No doubt some who are SAFC fans who would never have been able to have a sniff at owning us in the prem but who are in with a chance now and would love to have a go. I'd like owners who genuinely give a fuck but without money they will struggle unless they happen to be absolutely mint at running a football club, it's a huge risk and, tin hat on, I think I'd rather have Short

Until all of the expensive contracts have gone and there is a resolution to the SBC debt there is too much uncertainty around the financial stability of the club for it to be sold.

Pretty much this. Short got himself into the SBC mess, I think he'll need to try and get us out of it before anyone will invest. If by the end of next season we've got more big contacts gone (including rodwells which will have eventually expired, thankfully), we've refinanced the external debt and we've managed to piece together a side that wins promotion and we're back in the Championship, then you might find a serious bidder being interested. Until then I doubt we'll get anyone particularly promising

Time for Sunderland Albion? ;)

This. For everyone saying he's "bankrolled" the club, he's also put our very existence in jeopardy. A billionaire owner who has mire damage than Peter Ridsdale did at Leeds, regarding mortaging the club, without the relative success.

Yup either the talks were absolute bollocks leaked by the club to maintain the status quo or, as anyone expects, Short demanding the world

This is the one thing that would push me to protest, if it comes out that Short is being unreasonable regarding takeovers. He's got us into an absolutely massive mess through his own shit decisions; if he's trying to negotiate a deal whereby he gets more money if the new owners actually run the club properly and get us back to the top flight then he needs flogging. He should be writing off his debts simply to avoid having to keep the club and keep adding to them, he shouldn't also want to score if the next people are competent

How anyone can still say he's bankrolled...
Loans from him, loans from a bank. All to give his marras overpaid jobs.

Pinch of salt time but there was a story in the summer when "the germans were interested" that he was pissing about over the hotel.

Not surprised. Happened last year. Talk of something good imminent get our hopes up and the hopes are dashed when we realize the talk is only to get hopes up.

I told you all so. Ellis is going to be our owner for many years to come. I told you all it was all too good to be true.

What Ellis needs to do now is prepare for not only next season but the next 2-3 because I think it would be more prudent right now to make a plan for the long term.

Wouldn't surprise me. Does the hotel even make much money? Seemed a bit of a daft thing to build in my totally unqualified opinion. Class if we were man united or something but can't imagine many fans staying over, and equally not sure how busy it/ the stadium will be for meetings that require an overnight stay.
