Takeover Rumours

This thread is the pits
It's stinking isn't it.

Can the mods just set up a Jack Ross thread and move all the posts that aren't about the takeover into that. It's not like it's not been discussed on here a thousand times before. It's a pain in the arse having to trawl through 20+ pages of boring bastards derailing the thread with their tub-thumping every time.

He has told everyone his version of events which have been proven to be factually incorrect.
Add in hyperbole too, to keep the rhyming going.
They haven’t turned out to be incorrect
So there were reservations...
Not really they just didn’t want him to keep upping the price, jo reservations about the player, they wanted him and SD got him
Where have I said that?

The fact he might cost £4m is.
We haven’t paid anywhere near 4 mill

They have, you know they have but don’t want to see it.

How is the Juan investment going by the way?
How was the purchase price for the club explained?
Just a couple of examples, one of hyperbole, the other which was proven to be factually incorrect.

SD said only hits £4m if we get to the PL with him still here.

I see that now that Reiver has said any announcement looks like being well into next week at earliest, everyone is talking football again. Probably a good thing.

Although the post count on this thread has been extremely high recently, I cant remember a time when the number of new threads was so low. Everyone has been completely focused on the takeover.
That's because this is the Jack Ross thread at the moment. Hopefully it will be back on 'track' with monorail later this afternoon

I'm not saying it is, I'm replying to your suggestion that a better discussion would be how we could improve Grigg.

I see where you're coming from but I think it is too simplistic, there is a massive difference between Ross suggesting he is a reasonable player out of a poor group at half a million pounds and him saying this is the chap we need at any cost to get us promoted. At that price, anything other than him being on fire is detrimental to the cause and heaps pressure on the manager. That wouldn't be the last time SD would heap needless pressure on his manager (100 points).

It all begins and ends with strategy, had we made the basis of our recruitment to increase our assets rather than signing players to get us promoted we would be in a far brighter position. I could go on forever, but the Grigg signing for me, is a massive sign of SD's shortcomings and the deprivation of an intelligent strategy that this club has had for so long.

Had we gone up, would it had been worth it as SD suggested? Well, that would depend on Grigg's value, I don't think it would have increased and as such, you can only continue that manner of signing for so long.

I agree with some of the things you say about strategy and such but stuff like that takes years to implement, Donald & Co came into a huge shit storm and time dictated that we needed a squad of players to not only just play in this league but one that could challenge. It was thrown together and yet we still managed to be competitive up until the very end.

I listened to Donald on the podcast mention the 100 points and to me it sounded like a target, a number to aim for and I see nothing wrong with that. If Ross would agree with you that it puts him under pressure then it would suggest he's probably the wrong man going forward, I'd expect him and the team itself to have a similar target in mind...if they are wanting to achieve promotion.

If Grigg had fires us to promotion , I doubt we would be thinking of what he would be worth in the championship as he would have still probably been looked at as one of our main forwards but he would have went some way in repaying the club had we went up.

You don't like Donald mate, that's your opinion but personally, I think he's done a very decent job. Anyway, that's my opinion on that matter and I'll leave it at that.
