Aye, Ross was absolutely gutted that Donald went out and got the player he wanted albeit at a higher price :D imagine if every other manager was as thoughtful when it came to targets.

End of the day Ross wanted him and Donald went out and got him...ablor of other managers would have seen that and wished they had an owner like that but because it didn't work out, we're now having a go at the bloke.
I don't care if he was gutted or like a pig in shit, you cannot hold him responsible for a spending money on a player he wasn't that bothered about.

Said it at the time if that helps.

Perhaps a better discussion should be had by the clubs leader to create a competent strategy as opposed to fans expressing an opinion on tactical setup.

A tactical set up isn't Donald's department. Ross said he wanted him and he went out and got him.

We all said that the price was too much but Donald gambled and ultimately it didn't pay off. A better question would be as to why our forwards seem to find it hard to score?...figure that out and we might just see some return on Grigg.

If you believe Ross would have rather went into the season without Grigg and a forward down then you must be off your tits mate, not one manager gives a shit about how much a player costs, they identify a target and then put it to the man upstairs, it's his job to try and get that man and if it's doable then the manager is happy.

It's not Jack's job to worry about how much a player is....there's no doubt he will have said like most of us fans that Donald paid too much but he will have been very happy that the club's owner backed him.

I'll say it again and for the last time, Grigg's performances in a Sunderland shirt aren't Stewart Donald's fault.

A non-binary could be in a life partnership with a transgender gender neutral person. I don’t think that his example was diversified enough. It could come back to haunt him.
Fireman Sam identified himself as a white working class heterosexual, and was sacked by Lincolnshire Fire Brigade as a result as we all know this is BAD. I think it is probably better to stay in the closet if you are anything like Fireman Sam as you may be discriminated against

Have you ever said to the wife shall we buy something that you want and the wife doesn’t particularly want? The wife reluctantly agrees providing it doesn’t cost more than a certain amount and doesn’t impact your finances......you then go and buy said item and it costs way more than what the wife agreed too without consulting the wife?
No

Where have I said that?

The fact he might cost £4m is.

I'm not saying it is, I'm replying to your suggestion that a better discussion would be how we could improve Grigg.

I see where you're coming from but I think it is too simplistic, there is a massive difference between Ross suggesting he is a reasonable player out of a poor group at half a million pounds and him saying this is the chap we need at any cost to get us promoted. At that price, anything other than him being on fire is detrimental to the cause and heaps pressure on the manager. That wouldn't be the last time SD would heap needless pressure on his manager (100 points).

It all begins and ends with strategy, had we made the basis of our recruitment to increase our assets rather than signing players to get us promoted we would be in a far brighter position. I could go on forever, but the Grigg signing for me, is a massive sign of SD's shortcomings and the deprivation of an intelligent strategy that this club has had for so long.

Had we gone up, would it had been worth it as SD suggested? Well, that would depend on Grigg's value, I don't think it would have increased and as such, you can only continue that manner of signing for so long.

Donald said that Ross wanted Grigg but when the price went up for him Ross told him to leave it and they would just go with what they had. Donald thought he'd get him in because Grigg's record at this level was exceptional and he wanted to back the manager. It's all on the podcasts.

Donald may say too much at times or get a bit carried away with himself but I don't see how you can have a go at him for putting his money on a player that seemed worth the risk. Even a half fit Grigg should be putting goals away but he just doesn't look interested and that's not Stewart Donald's fault.
It absolutely is his fault. He unilaterally decided to break the league one transfer record by 50% on a player who was never going to solve our problems - something that was obvious at the time. He got his eyes taken out on a player we didn’t desperately need. We could definitely have done with that £3m over the summer. There’s plenty of blame to go around on the recruitment side of the business - and on the grigg transfer itself - but ultimate responsibility lies with Donald from his own mouth.

If he’s allowing players to come in over his head and actually play them aswell then he’s a coward and should have told Stu and the Spiv to stick their job where the sun don’t shine .
If I tried to force a useless bricklayer for instance onto my foreman at work and ignored his concerns I’m quite sure he would tell me to fuck off and get someone else to run his jobs and rightly so .

Ross is a fraud and you hinting at him being a spineless twat confirms what we all knew anyroad .
