Takeover Rumours

If you don’t get excited about this what will you ever get excited about? Why even be a football fan?

Besides it’s not as the mags would be respectful if the takeover fell through and we hadn’t let ourselves get carried away.
It's like some fucker at Wembley in 2014 telling you it's not fulltime so you can't celebrate Borini's goal and dream of winning the cup at HT :lol:

To add to the terms fun police and mood hoovers that apply to some in this thread, I just found another which is an energy vampire trying to suck the life out of something!

If the takeover had not happened SD would of told us. Not a chance he is going to let people get this excited for no reason
I think you may be right on this one!..you can understand a non disclosure fiat about a deal in progress but it makes no sense to have one for a failed takeover!

You'd be surprised. Arnold Weinstock, who was running GEC when I worked for one of their subsidiaries in the early 90s, personally scrutinised every directors expense claims (both main board and subsidiaries) and was ruthless about disallowing anything he felt inappropriate. Once, his FD and right hand man tried to claim £50 for losses made on the outcome of playing golf with business contacts. Arnold red-pencilled it with the comment "Am I to presume from this that, had you won, you would have given the winnings to the GEC?". They get to be billionaires precisely because they do sweat the small stuff. Firstly, because it sets a good example to other employee, and secondly, because it establishes a culture of getting things right from day one. Arnold also used to refuse to sanction any redundancy payment which exceeded the statutory maximum.
This is the detail Ellis Short ignored. I know for a fact expenses and petty cash was signed off willy nilly and without a second thought. Something SD changed straight away

Very true , you don’t need to know the detail day to day but it’s about people knowing you can and will when you want to

Really?

If you can't discuss anything without childish abuse, then it's pathetic.

If you've lived your life the way you claim, you'd really think you'd have more decorum in your replies.

Carry on...
Typical Steve, starts with nibbles at someone repeating what he was doing about 500 pages ago, along with constant negative comments (not directed at someone) and has done at numerous times in spells throughout the thread and then plays the victim when people come back at him!

Seriously mods why is this allowed as it's not good surely?

I don’t think we need to worry about it mate, I personally think they be looking for a proven manager anyway and it’s just the timing that matters.
I’m basing this on nothing other than thinking self made billionaires don’t fuck about.
I also agree that our squad should’ve been and should be promoted.
Just don't want the situation of last season where we did just enough all season to look like we could go up automatically then miss out

Aye and what happened to GEC when they squeezed Weinstock and his ways out? Meticulous works.

Absolute brilliant mate and I doubt anyone can top that ...

... but, being me, I'll try and will break ranks and name names

We worked in Gordes, south of France for a Jewish couple, Mr & Mrs John Webber who'd have guests like Shirley Bassey to the house, fly them down in their jet and give them whatever they wanted.

Outside were Bentleys, Aston Martins, Ferraris, etc etc etc.

One day, Mrs Webber called Kathy into the office for 'a chat' which, in this kind of world, is never for a surprise bonus payment.

"Kathy, John and I have noticed that more often than not we have a baguette left over at the end of the day. You're a wonderful housekeeper but we both feel you're buying too much bread, please bear that in mind. And, before you go, would you mind mentioning to the village baker that he's putting slightly too much salt in the bread."

He admitted he hadn't the other day now allif a sudden he has heard things

You know, a think called time? Things change. People talk.
He knows fuck all man. He will just pretend he does and drop little snippets that make it look like he does

Then when it all comes out he will pretend thats what he was hinting at. Like a book

Like a couple of weeks ago I said Ethan Robson would go to Grimsby. Guess where he went ?

:)

As see-through as a glass window; I've been saying it for about half a decade.
