Takeover Rumours

let's not piss about with Allardyce. He was decent here by our very low standards.

If we've got Man City type cash let's get a proper top class manager or a young manager with a vision. He's the worst of both worlds......over the hill and rank average at the top table.
We are in League 1.

So? Could he not show the fans and club a modicum of respect by waiting half an hour for the game to finish?

He's a self-serving, arrogant, arsehole who has never won anything. Fuck him.
Are you talking about a pre season game at Hartlepool? I'm not aware of the context here sorry so dont really have an opinion. I guess I dont care anyway.

We still had more possession and more chances at goal than charlton, but it sounded like a home game for them.. I couldn't believe how apathetic our support was considering the importance of the game..

Possession and shooting (I'm not going to call them chances, think there was only maybe one time I actually thought we might score after the opener) is all well and good but throughout the game they looked much more dangerous. When they got the ball there was intent to get forward, you felt they were going to create. The stats with possession (mostly in completely non threatening areas) and shots (hardly any of which were near to being a chance) doesn't tell the story as you will know perfectly well assuming you sat through it. For most of the game after their equaliser I had the feeling they were more likely to win it, everyone I've spoken to thought the same. Maybe you were standing there thinking we were the better side but if so I'd say you're in the minority on that one

Any manager willing to play attacking football with side mindful of moving the ball quicker. Don’t even have to be quick lads, certainly not physically. Shame we didn’t sign any pace this window however, barring Willis.

Mainly speculation. The announcement of the takeover was expected to be tomorrow, sounds like it's completed but some issue is holding up the announcement, there's been suggestions that it's to do with staffing and, with the manager the only major change they could make upon arrival, people are thinking it's quite possible they're wanting to make a change. Reiver said he asked his source about whether a new manager was coming in but didn't get a reply. He's now said he's heard about a name who will be good in L1, champ and prem, so presumably he's heard something about a manager. Guesswork at this stage but Ross going wouldn't be a surprise

Thanks GG just woke up and couldn't possibly read all back from where I left off

Even at 64, it wouldn't exactly be a long term managerial solution. There arent many 70 year old managers. 7 years could be considered long term. But this is a man who has already retired once. However, there is no denying he would be a popular choice.

Personally, if we are completely speculating, I would absolutely love Wenger as DOF. Genuinely tried to hold that point of view until the takeover is confirmed, but I've had a bottle of wine and I'm f***ing excited about the possibilities of having billionaire owners!
Really can't understand the dislike of him on here, mate. Great man for bringing youth into the team.

I’m as excited by all this takeover talk as anyone. I really don’t like jack ross so would be pleased to see him go. I know the new owners are minted and it’s going to be an exciting few days waiting to hear/see just exactly how ambitious they are going to be with our club but what I find amazing is fans saying they wouldn’t have big sam back. Yes he’s dodgy and yes he left by choice but he’s also our best manager by a mile in recent times- he’s very much a premier league standard manager and we are regardless of ownership still a league 1 team. It would be an incredible appointment for us at this stage, to be honest I think personally we might not be able to attract him in league 1 but would loved to be proved wrong. Nothing wrong with dreaming but I think some people are getting very carried away talking about wenger etc Some people are talking as if we are already a top 6 premier league team looking to appoint a manager capable of winning the premier league!! We need to calm down a little bit I think! I know it’s hard!

1. He'd never sign on to a 3rd tier team.

2. His brand of risk/reward player signings with agents like Willie and Mark McKay exemplify the mercenary approach to modern football.

Is that how we should spend new owner cash??

Yesterday's agent collector??

Also, new owners will spend cash how they see fit... And hopefully smarter than that.
