Don't want us competing in the champions league eh?
Or multiple premier league titles?
Or sign the worlds best players?
Or be regarded as one of the best teams in the world?
With one of the best managers in the world?

Aye who the fuck wants that, I love getting dry bummed by f***ing Peterborough.

Sunderland supporter though, aye? 😂

I hate to gan on like but I’m asking this question for myself obviously and the thousands of sunderland fans hanging on your every word;Do you think the owners truly intend to put us up there with the likes of City ?Not just talk like all new owners but genuine intent .

In your opinion obviously ,I know you Havnt a crystal ball.

It does sound far fetch though in the cold light of day ,yes we all want that and I’m excited to fuck about this takeover.

Fingers crossed this all isn’t just a pipe dream and us letting ourselves get carried away .

I know mate but why not dream - better than the stale reality of our current existence- if it goes tits up, well, gan to the fridge and make a sandwich

The place is already pretty lean- I think the likes of Kevin ball etc have risen the train long enough- and Ross better sort his defending out or he will be gone -

We have tourist fans now- load of Chinese doing selfies at sol the other day- we are famous

They were all wearing Wimbledon scarves.

Its conceivable that sunderland fans born now will never know another sunderland than the one in the global elite league with 10 titles to their name circa 2030
My dad born 1929 was too young for the last great period, mid 30s, I was lucky enough to get to 73 cup final with him and many games home and away since then. Let’s get back up and live a dream

That's fine mate, as long as you're not putting me under any pressure

OK, I've resisted so far but I'll say more having spoken to the personal friend of two of the buyers.

He's been in touch today and given me just a little more info but not much tbh.
I'm stringing him along but have no intention of working for him as Mrs Reiver wasn't happy with the proposal. I'm only pretending to be considering his offer so I can get more info for you lot which I think is decent of me tbf. It's a shame I won't be able to use him for real first hand inside info, in the future, If I worked for him I'd get to meet his friends in a relaxed atmosphere and work my undoubted charm.
That would put me in a position where I have two of our owners as 'friends' and be able to let them use me as a 'source' to leak stuff to the likes of you ;)

I'm gutted but our lass puts up with a lot and she comes before you lot.

Anyway, having set the scene, here's what else I can say, in terms we're all familiar with, and without breaking confidences. The new owners are as cool as the other side of the pillow but absolutely driven in their quest for absolute success in every aspect of their lives. Every part of the club will be electro-shocked into action, money will be pumped into it by whatever means are legally available and anyone who 'fails' will be forced to walk the plank. The supporters, despite all the years of promises, magic carpets and disappointment, will be expected to get on board. I suspect that, if that support is begrudging, the owners will feel free to do whatever they wish to attract sponsorship, investment and support from outside the UK. We have to bear in mind that TV, sponsorship, merchandising, corporate involvement, etc, totally eclipse our input. We have a chance, maybe only one, to be a big part of this ... otherwise we'll see it happen despite us, not because of us.

That would hurt me and, I hope, all of you.

I fully expect they'll pump money in, and quickly. As you say they need to stay within the rules, but realistically they are working against a ticking clock. It would be nice to invest slowly, build the academy, get great coaches and try to be seen to do it "organically" but let's be honest, if they've got a lot of money and given what they've achieved in business so far, they will only see success as getting us to the top table. The issue with that is that those at the top table currently are working ever faster to try and bring the drawbridge up. European super league, if not that maybe a champions league which it's virtually impossible to drop out of so that Leicester could win the league and not even get in. The major clubs are trying to get towards the franchise type model, a few clubs guaranteed to compete at the top forever more. If these lads are really serious about getting us to compete, they have to do it before that drawbridge is raised forever.

Absolutely great post mate.

These people have arrived 20 years too late in my opinion but hopefully not in theirs.

They're powerful people and are used to taking on the best so, fingers crossed.
