What about on the pitch?
Quite a few have asked so here goes, this is what I was told.
Bear in mind this was from someone in an office environment where things were being discussed and not a board meeting or anything formal.
The gist is that this group want to build something more than a football team but won't just pour money in.
Anyone and everyone in the community, who claim to want progress, will be invited to participate in one way or another.
This bit is guesswork, from what was said ... the council, local business, various sports bodies, etc, etc, etc will all be 'included' but there won't be any charity.
I'd guess that means it could be like a pension scheme where contributions will be matched/enhanced by the club.
I'd hope they can attract other money to the town just by the force of their joint 'personality' .
They'r'e no doubt people who can make things happen so fingers crossed.
now you know how Jesus felt![]()
Iam a believer in what Reiver is telling this board and hope it’s not a wind up ( which I don’t believe it is ) being born and bread Ashington lad but a massive lads fan for over 35yrs as is my dad and late grandad , I’ve had some shit over the yrs off the mags but the six in a row did help shut them up for a while but then to be relegated to league one again has just got them crawling from under their stones again !!! I would just love us to shove it up the shop shouters horse punching fukers once and for all ... sothis goes through
Sooner than you thinkHave a feeling we could be waiting a while for any official confirmation. Not doubting it’ll come but it’s gonna be a long old wait I think.
Thanks for the update after the last 20 pages that’s what I’ve been after. As I posted earlier it was described as a very long term legacy project including various entities such as local sports groups, the council, local business, etc.
That's all I have mate.
Away then ,??!Sooner than you think
Aye he seemed to have the bug when he first got involved but I don't think he's arsed nowHope so tbh
Nah, I'll be too busy being over the moon that we can actually kick on...I only put the 'kick in the teeth' comment in so people will remember it.
When this all breaks the people who've accused me of lying will have to admit I was right all along.
It'll absolutely choke them at a time when they should be celebrating a great new era for the club.
and putting people on crosses for?
it really wasn'tMy guess is that tonight's Look North could be really interesting
Sooner than you think
I hope he stays. Seems motivated and another link to even more billions. You can never have enough....Hope so tbh
Nah, I'll be too busy being over the moon that we can actually kick on...
Nowt confirmed yet though.... tick tock
When have I started calling you childish names without provocation?Wow, breaking news from the board zombie![]()
Legacy was the word used by them in the article I read Riv. That to me gets them extra brownie points, suggesting they aren’t fly by nightstand have the clubs long term interest at heartQuite a few have asked so here goes, this is what I've gleaned.

You can't turn back the clock. I've traveled the country over the decades and when conversation turns to football when talking to other blokes when I have told them I am a Sunderland Supporter. Most respond with Oh you're a Mackem with pride in their knowledge about our regional geography. The truth is I'm not a Mackem but I never correct people when they address me as such. As for the world knowing about who we are I'd rather not be associated as a geordie as geordie has always been associated with NUFC. That was taken from us and bastardized by The Mags. Its of some importance to me that if we take off as a club the world also sees us as SAFC/The Mackems/ The black cats and not Geordies. Affairs of identity are important when achieving glory. And a final point the word Mackem wont be stolen from us from our Neighbours up the road.Back in the dim and distant past (the 50s) 'Geordie' refered to anybody from north of the Tees and south of the Border. So all of Northumberland and Durham, including all the yackers, woolybacks and townies. This term wasn't invented by locals, it was a label used by the rest of the world to identify anyone with a 'Geordie' accent. In the days when regional accents were not mainstream, our dialect was as recognisable as Welsh or Scottish, but nobody outside the region would recognise the subtle differences between, say, Ashington, Bishop, Blaydon and Chester-le-Street.
As many have pointed out, the sea-change came with the execrable John Hall, who came up with the 'Geordie Nation' bullshit. Those days are over (I hope). They are Mags and Barcodes. WE are ALL Geordies to the rest of the world, and if the hopes and dreams expressed in this thread come to fruition, the whole world is going to know about it.
