Takeover Rumours

These fellas wouldn’t waste their time turning 50m into 150m over 10 years. One of them buys paintings worth that

As others have said there are other motivations at work here, SAFC isn’t going to make any material difference to their level of wealth. Such is its scale that it just won’t!!!!

And that’s a very very good thing
So why di they bother then?

You think they’re doing this just to fuck around? I doubt it...they obviously see potential.

No, absolutely not.

I’m saying they aren’t in it to make money - because they don’t need to be. They have hundreds of pure investments to make money.

They will be in it to have some fun by owning something that goes batshit mental and hopefully wins something - the potential is there to grow a legacy

Ah! Batshit mental! Now I know they've come to the right place. The crowd at the SoL on Saturday probably helped a canny bit.

Suppose we have just wait and see but if it doesn't happen, the vermin are going to have a field day are they not?
They probably will, but in the meantime they’ll be absolutely bricking it, and once it’s confirmed, they’ll probably give up on football and use Ashley as the excuse.

Sorry for the interruption lads, I’ll let you get back to discussing the pro’s and con’s of hedge funds and trade deals.

why are they buying us?
i know there are a lot of predictable emotionally driven answers you could give, by set those aside
what are the practical goals of buying SAFC?
Apparently so we can knock Man city " off their f***ing perch " as a great scotsman once said.

So that makes two reports of trade deal being ratified or trade deal being blocked by congress, you’re actually saying it won’t happen for definite where in fact unless you know more than trump and boris then you don’t know what will happen like the rest of us. Just like this takeover of ours and I’m the happiest I’ve been for years about our football club no one knows until it happens so there’s really no point on speculating and bringing brexit into it.
Trade deals take years to negotiate. I’d say a comprehensive deal would take 5-10 years minimum. ( The EU - Brazil deal took around 20 years)

I’ve been involved in these things (in a very small way) but even our 100-200 million per year part took two years to negotiate.

Yeah but I’m talking about when we get to Championship and even more so in the PL when the money starts to get disgusting.

That's my worry to be fair. It's fine signing 5 CB's for the price of a fish supper in L1 and then finding out they're all largely shite but a much more astute approach is needed when paying millions in the leagues above. We've already been down the route of poor recruitment set ups and it almost did for the club.

That sounds more like you hope instead of reality...do they want a successful club? Absolutely, but they also don’t want a money pit. Hopefully they’re 10x smarter than Short and get the right people in there or it’ll just be a repeat.

I really don’t see their motivations in this being financial. They will have multiple options on a daily basis that are bigger games and better profits than investing in a football club.

I think this is some ultra rich blokes who are massively competitive by nature fancy a go at winning some of the biggest prizes in world sport starting from a difficult position.
The sums involved are relatively irrelevant to them - as difficult as that is to grasp
Nothing is irrelevant, that is how you get to that wealth. Minor details are everything

We will never get t tourist element at Sunderland so a theme park is a questionable idea. Bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels, apartments n that is what that area needs like. Can't imagine my mates asking if i wanna go on a ride before the big game.

Just like we never get the tourists to come to the air show?

Or the way we didn’t get them to come to the tall ships ?

Do you think hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Ripon before they built Lightwater Valley?

Ive no idea if there’s even a scrap of truth in the idea of them building a theme park here but why write it off like that?

We'll need plenty of ice cream sellars, waltzer spinners and people to wear oversized dressing up gear.
