Great news for him. And us.EFL eye up Sunderland's Jim Rodwell for new chief
Sunderland's Jim Rodwell is wanted by the EFL to replace outgoing chief executive Dave Baldwin, who will leave next year after less than 12 months in the job.
Rodwell was previously a director of the EFL while in charge at Scunthorpe before moving to Sunderland. There he has been instrumental in negotiating the club's imminent takeover by Uruguayan businessman Juan Sartori and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, son of former Marseille owner Robert Dreyfus.

not if he does it part time......Moll

Rodwell is the Chief Exec, there would be something wrong if he wasn't involved in speaking to a potential new head coach! He is running the club!Johnson has been quoted as saying rodwell was very much involved in his recruitment. You have no way of knowing if donald has zero interest in us. If he had no interest he could have called out this rich energy bloke and told him to put his money where his mouth was as he has supposedly offerred his 'asking price'.
We hear johnson has been picked as bristol city had a good record of selling on players at a profit, but i thought we were getting taken over by a billionaire. The whole episode is a way for donald to hang in and reduce the financial burden on himself.

We need some clarity very soon as none of this is good for the club or the supporters.

The whole thing is very strange and very strange appointments, typical of SD to cloud everything to shield his obvious shortcomings.unless u believe the Echo
Who’d have thought eh.
I’m sure we’ll see plenty of posts now saying ‘well of course he was involved, he owns the club’ despite people bending over backwards to say the appointments were all the work of Dreyfuss and Sartori.

direct quotes from Johnson marra while the Echo understands, no direct quotes
The change in the set up is from them, I'm convinced of it. Donald talking to the new manager is worrying though. Those 2 clowns (SD & CM) need f***ing off ASAPWho’d have thought eh.

f***ing hell you’re right! The change in the set up is from them, I'm convinced of it. Donald talking to the new manager is worrying though. Those 2 clowns (SD & CM) need f***ing off ASAP
Edit: we can't we say f***ing anymore without it be asterixed?

Was thinking about this last night and had a nagging feeling. We sacked Hill and Coton way back in July before the takeover was even mooted. The existing board were obviously looking to go in a different direction way back then. The change in the set up is hardly that much of an intervention. It’s not even new for SAFC. We’ve had this ‘model’ before under Short. It’s designed to take pressure and responsibility away from the board and the manager.
I’ll remain very skeptical until genuine evidence shows that there is major influence from the new lad and Sartori.
Sartori can’t stand him or methven either.Donald hasn’t been involved, GOM has been insistent on it. Having the inside track and that..
The change in structure was important as firstly it’s the right structure - with seemingly highly rated people chosen. Secondly it’s completely opposed to everything that Donald said he wanted in the way to run a club. It was a really good signal that he was out. This is really bad news today. It still has chance to work - as I say it’s 100% the right thing for Safc to do - but equally it’s now gonna be tainted by association to that utter f***ing failure. Something that should be a positive is now spoiled by Donald’s endless ego.The change in the set up is hardly that much of an intervention. It’s not even new for SAFC.
