Takeover News/Rumours - Part 42

Yep, slipping away from the pack. I know they want to do things properly and not rush the appointment etc but it’s bad timing.

Pretty sure we won’t be getting more than a point this weekend with ghost of Parky haunting the dug out.

If the new TD is in place he should take a few training sessions with the squad and be in charge of the game at the weekend, I'm sure it will give him a real eye opener in terms of lack of fitness, morale at rock bottom and players scared of expressing themselves on the pitch. Give him a god sense of the task in hand. He can tell Taylor to pack his bags whilst hes on.

None of this makes sense.

We sack a manager and replace him temporarily with a shadow version of himself for two must win games.

Our sacked manager had been undermined in the run up to the Fleetwood game by a leak on player fitness, and then sacked on Sunday by phone, whilst taking training: weird timing right?

Meanwhile, we attempt to appoint a new coach who turns us down for a reason officially given as "didn't want to manage in league one" (total bullshit) - this was after it was leaked he was a new manager to all
and sundry. This being a manager that previously complained that he couldn't turn the club around as he did not have total autonomy over club structure...

We are in the midst of a takeover, which at best sees the two of the most divisive and dishonest figures in our history retain a shareholding (and whether you like it or not, the ability to filibuster our newest shareholder), despite protestations that they just want out.

Then news reaches us that a new management structure is in fact in place (despite no official announcement), and are currently interviewing candidates for a head coach role - whilst our new Sporting Director conducting the interviews is still contracted to another club.

On top of this, the current favourite for the head coach role has previously had problems working under a system to the one we are putting in place, but lives next door to Jim Rodwell (a confirmed muppet but of course not involved at all with the hiring process).

Yet, I would be being negative in raising this as an issue..

It is a either a communications nightmare (ironic given that Pulitzer Winner Charlie Methven is still our overlord), or a total fuck-up..?

I wonder which, given recent history..
Seems like both to me.

We need someone strong, determined and resilient who wants to manage us, be successful , ride the wave...

We don't need someone who will take the huff at some perceived slight . I don't know if that's what happened with Gus, but if it was then - as someone once said - 'we move on'.

No work for 2 years then 2 offers in one week, like buses, Gus buses.

No, I don’t think he has had an offer elsewhere. My personal opinion is that something has spooked him at the very last minute with whoever he has dealt with. I’ve no idea who or what. Ultimately though, we can’t rule out that he hasn’t used us to get his name out there. I don’t think it’s the case though.

None of what you wrote seems plausible

For me, yes it has something to do with somebody night up at the club. I don’t know who, I don’t know what but something has spooked him at the last moment.

I still reckon it's the takeover not done that spooked him.

If he had signed his contract and the takeover doesn't go through he's stuck in a contract with SD/CM.and we've all seen what they are like.

What do we think then (assuming, just for fun, Magnus is correct)?

I'm going to say it'll be Cowley. Not my choice and I'm not particularly confident about it but will hope for the best.

Forget Gus. He didn't sign so move on.

He's been out of management a long time so I feel we may have been good for him and possibly he for us.

New young blood. Eager to impress and lift us from the shit we are in. Could make a bloody good name for himself and talked about for generations.

Or.....

Like I said, I don’t profess to be any sort of ITK but I do know people who know people who do have these sort of links. I know that Gus was already to sign and it was a case of crossing that last t on Poyet. For that reason, I can’t imagine it having anything to do with others being interviewed as we must assume he was first choice. The only thing that I could think of was that Madrox (I.e Donald, Metheven and Rodwell) were interfering with the process which Sartori and Dreyfus already had ongoing.
I hate them two ***** with a passion

Never, not even once. Which is amazing really as even if you made shit up you should get one thing right every now and again
I've just started having a look in now and again over there and its amazing that he is one of the revered ITKs. People hanging off his every word despite him being a mile off with the fuhrman stuff.

None of the ITK stuff seems to come under the slightest bit of scrutiny even though most of it is vague or with hindsight.
