Takeover News/Rumours - Part 42

I get he’s meant to be a PR expert and his way of words isn’t great (putting it lightly) but quite frankly I couldn’t care less if he’s still involved. Prehab has said if it wasn’t for him the deal mightn’t have even happened...

One of the lowest ebbs in the clubs history, if not the worst and we’re potentially getting multiple billionaire owners (who have links with other well established teams), a sporting director and most likely a new manager replacing our dreadful current one.

Not sure what everyone else has been watching for the past 2 years but it couldn’t get any worse right now and people are more fixated on one person that called illegal stream watchers parasites 😂

Let’s see what happens with the deal and new owners. It’s quite clear with 5% shares he’s not going to be running the club.
This is very much my view. We are likely getting a Sporting Director and presumably a new manager with a more progessive view of football. However, you can understand fans worries given SD/CMs disastrous spell. At 5% it seems far fetches that he'll be controlling things in the background.

It's all getting a bit QAnon at times.

I can't believe anyone would try to rationalise Methven's involvement, given his words about us. This is entirely about his conduct which in itself suggests that he does not have respect for us as fans. That ship has sailed, there can be no defence of him having any substantial part of any new regime.

Listen to this and ask yourself whether this is someone who holds us in anything other than contempt:

We're an easy excuse for his own failings at the club. How can anyone blame the fans? We've been nothing but supportive in the ground despite them failing to deliver time and time again.
Nixon saying it's shaping up to have Methven with significant involvement :(

Why when he's already had a lot of input and made his feelings quite clear about our fans, the one positive at the club.

I actually didn't mind Methven in the STID documentary, he made sense and seemed to have higher standards and expectations than those around him. The thing is though, he has been excessively and unnecessarily negative towards our fans, in addition I thought he stepped down as Director and appeared to want out.

Why then the sudden change?

Only? Fook me wot do ye lot want? We prescreening the Billionaires now are we?

But yea let's find a negative, life will be back to normal next season, including ye Fookas sucking the life out of the SOL....
We can’t possibly say things will be back to normal next season. Ofcourse our masters will allow the peasants to watch the sport again but many of our fans won’t be in a financial position to still be going. It’s risky from an investment point of view. Which is why I doubt the whole thing. I would be delighted to proved wrong on this one.

They’re not really involved now though, are they?
Not in the day to day running at least...

As long as other people are making the decisions I don’t care how much they own tbh. Most important thing is sacking the manager and replacing him with someone competent with a long term view for the team.

I said when the news first broke that I’d be happy enough if they’re retaining shares for a bigger sale price later but I hoped they’d have no involvement in running things. that’s not based on spite or “inverse snobbery”, it’s based on their total failure in the job they’ve done since arriving. I think both of them, but Methven in particular are absolutely clueless about football and business so why are they useful to us?

the answer Is, unfortunately, they aren’t but they own the club so they call the shots. If Charlie wants to stay on to try and assuage his bruised ego because it turns out he’s been a walking disaster there is nothing we can do. If they won’t sell up and walk away, we’re either stuck with a deal like this or we plod on as usual.

I suppose we have to hope it works out but I’ve gone from being excited about a new era to absolutely gutted that no mark is still going to be involved in any serious way. I don’t see us going anywhere if he has a say in things. Useless human being.

Interesting to read Gordon Armstrong's tweets today about the ' alleged ' forthcoming takeover. He doesn't mince his words stating quite clearly that this takeover will ' change nothing ' .
Methuen will still carry out the principal administration role and SD will still provide a prominent role at the club.

Apologies I can't post the tweet, Iam pretty crap at this cyber malarkey but would appreciate if a fellow poster could just add the actual tweet to this thread, cheers.

But as it stands, they're not doing nothing. Methven stepped down did he not and Donald doesn't seem to want to be involved anymore.

If they appoint a sporting director then that will be a change.

Depends on who that person is and how competent they are that will determine whether it’s a change for the better and to be encouraged by.
Surely the most important ingredient to a Sporting Director’s role would be what they are allowed to do, with the greatest will in the world no one can do a job without the finances and tools required, if any Sporting Director has to work under the constraints that Donald is currently imposing then good luck to them.

Takeover, new manager and sporting director?I got excited about the mono rail so I’m just going to chill my tits and see how this one pans out, daren’t get my hopes up just yet
