Like appointing someone Birmingham fans seem happy to be rid of, and Lee f***ing Johnson?

Is this supposed to be exciting?
Yes actually I am quite pleased with it, don’t think it will be the end of the new appointments either
Which is in itself a revealing phrase, carefully chosen by an intelligent man who knows fully what is going on, but can't say too much.
Sadly given away by KLD liking his announcement post on instagram 😂

New innovative billionaire owners with ambition and contacts and the result is another out of work lower league manager who’ll probably be on less money than Dull Phil.
Glory days. Good luck to Lee though!

You definitely know nowt about Lee Johnson.
 in a nutshell.
Absolutely gutted Pearson not getting it.

Watch Speakman's interview, Then see how far away Pearson is away from that.

Do you even know what you're talking about ? It was over a spat and he got roped in. Nothing more.

That shouldn't discount all the excellent work he has done at academy level and bringing players through

I feel like im bipolar. Ive gone from gutted and fed up to excited after listening to Speakman. Haway!
In his interview he reckoned it was rare he’d met a kid that actually wanted to leave their side at 16.

Mustnt have met our lot as according to Donald they all want to leave

His interview was very impressive though, said all the right things.

What the hell is the obsession with Nigel Pearson. I dont get it. It's like hes the bloody Messiah or something. He got sacked by Leicester in strange circumstances but it may have had something to do with his conduct. Has done next to nowt since and in his last job got sacked a few weeks b4 end of season for allegedly headbutting a player. You dont just sack a manager at that stage of the season. He is clearly a strange sort and it's no surprise there arent a host of clubs trying to get him.
Speakman did say the right things, hugely underwhelmed with Johnson.

Another opportunity missed
Who would you have appointed?

Bristol City fan in peace. My old man is a Mackem so always had an interest and like for Sunderland.

Lee Johnson had a ‘mixed’ time with us as Manager. To start with he was unpopular playing for us under his dad. He also joined after Steve Cotterill was sacked, who was hugely popular after doing the League One and JPT double playing exciting football.

He steadied the ship in the early days when we were 22nd in the Championship. He then developed us into a really exciting high press team – the year we beat United in the QF and ran Man City mighty close in the semi of the League Cup. The football and tempo was exciting… but as we fell away late season there was concern there was ‘burn out’ from both the cup run and the style.

Johnson obviously thought we needed a change tactics to be more successful and lost the high press style that had made us so exciting. We’ve ended up ‘drifting’ the last couple of years into mid-table mediocrity, despite backing and regular early season promise. But in many ways, he really did establish us a solid Championship club, and he was instrumental in setting up many of the good ways the club is being run now (as he did with Barnsley).

On the positive he clearly works extremely hard and puts everything into Management. He’s analytical in everything he does, and is much more passionate than his style suggests. Expect some astute signings – he’s well connected and respected in the game. He developed various young home grown players, that we then sold for big profit, e.g. he converted Bobby Reid (who most fans would have sold for nothing) from a midfielder to a striker and sold him for £10m.

On the downside we had some mad winning and losing streaks. After he dispensed with our high press style he chopped and changed formations and players, and never seemed to know his best team. He seemed to overly obsess about the opposition rather than focused on what we did best. His man management style has been called into question, and he has been known to hang players out to dry.

Overall, if I was a Sunderland fan I’d be cautiously optimistic. Johnson is very thoughtful and I think he’ll have learnt from his failings at Bristol City. He won’t be popular with a large portion of our fan base, but I personally think you’ll be getting a very good manager if you hire him. Best of luck!

This chopping and changing of who the manager might be, i might be clutching at straws but do you think the club are trying to gauge fans reactions before they settle on their choice? Its gone from being definitely poyet, then looking like its cowley to now being likely to be johnson

It would be worth the season ticket money to watch Pearson headbutt some of our players, he could knack Donald whilst he's at it.

*Owner

Only 1 is new and has that money

the other isn't new, isn't a billionaire and has been here 2 and a half years

just clearing that up, as facts important in these matters

He got sacked at Leicester because of the video his son was in during the Thailand pre season tour, and Pearson snr didn't want to get rid

Not arsed about him myself mind, but thats why he got sacked.

Pearson
Cook
Lowe
Cowley

Apart from the club going in a complete different direction and the person who made so many gaffs as chairman and owner, will be a complete silent investor.

Aye. Nowt has changed. You can clearly see with everything going on now that's it's all changing.
I’m not so sure I share your optimism mate. The appointment of Johnson would indicate nothing’s changed.

Or looking at it another way
Sartori 40%
Dreyfus 40%
Donald 14 %
Methven 6%

Donald, Sartori and Methven still in control of the club, the same clowns who have us in this mess.

Nothings changed other than an investor on board, this is not a takeover.

Absolute bollocks.
