Swindon Town 25/26 thread

Agree with you Mate.
An absolute shite league this season and MKD should walk it.
The rest all much of a much and we do have a decent squad that should help.

One of those and all about the next game tomorrow night.
I’m sure Holloway will make changes.
As you know, it's about getting some consistency in your performances which equates to results. IH seems to have put together a decent squad with covering options. It might be a poor division (your term) but three teams will be promoted -without play offs involvement- Nobody will stroll the league, it's about the team(s) that can be resilient & battle through the adversity that each club will face at some points it's good that you have a game so quickly after the last one to get it out of the players heads, a four nil defeat gives the manager/hc things to work on & use as an example to get more from the team.

Tbf the early sending off affected the game but from reports you could still have taken something from it with less players.

Paddy McGuinness could have scored against us yesterday.
What the fook was Fatty, our keeper doing for the first goal. He was closer to Blackburn than his own goal line.
That’s 4 he has conceded this season from poor positioning but he is better than the previous keeper.
You gotta laugh or else you would cry.

Sat on the train at Preston for 70 minutes whilst they tried to find a driver.
At least we kept the Carriage entertained. No abuse, no swearing just fun and laughter. Every time the announcer came on it was belly laughter.
“We are still trying to find a driver and will keep you updated. Those travelling to Crewe, Warrington or Stafford can change to platform 4 where another train is waiting a driver 🤣🤣.”

“Can anyone drive a train”
“I built my lad a Hornby train set and will give it a go.”

Then the final blow.
“We are sorry to announce the buffet car is now closed as we are awaiting a changeover of staff.” That was it I was on the floor like our keeper was for most of the game.

Fleetwood by train in a few weeks time, round two.🙏⚽❤️🤣
Train and bus or train and tram?...... there's no station in Fleetwood

Agree that 1st goal was shocking

Blackpool and Uber for us.Maybe tram going but definitely Uber return as we will be cutting it fine.

By the way your good Accy folk were as good as gold as always.
Good natives.

Accrington were better all over the park from start to finish.
We deserved nothing and Holloway needs to look in the mirror on his team selection.
As for the first goal Fatty Ripley was nearer Blackburn than his goal line. That was a decisive moment in the game.

All about tomorrow night and a tough game.

Seen the Sky goal highlights and they stole & moved the ball quite easily through mid pitch areas to get finishes without pressure where/when there should have been some. Gaps all over, and as for the opener I'd suggest your keeper was expecting the ball to be played to the pen area edge and your back line might get turned so he may have needed to be closer to the ball.

Incidentally, Madden is no fool at that level - he gets goals, but for now it's about the next game and I reckon Notts will play on Swindon coming off a four-nil. Pressure will be put on the ball in similar areas when you're trying to get a goal.

Going down to 10 early on didn’t help us.
No excuses as up to the red we never got going.

Losing a player never helps team-shape & plans, losing him so early blows it all plus the oppo see it as something to play on. From what I saw on brief highlights they caught you in possession & broke with your lot looking like they hadn't expected to lose the ball so didn't track or work to get some sort of defensive shape in place while they were building.

They sucked you in & took their chances, lesson on working-back for IH to sort in training. Is there much in-game leadership/experience in your side? Going forward Swindon look good but backwards out of possession I have doubts.

As you posted; next game is big now to put it all back on track.

Haven't seen Swindon on the Telly yet this Season and Can they get back to the Top....So Swindon v Notts County for me tha neet.... nevermind those Foreign games!!!! Lol

Bugger Robins already one nil down. :(

Apologies to Swindon on Tour for jinxing them!!

That's the only game tonight for me, but conceding so early after their previous result

First half apart from gifting the goal we looked decent.
Second half Notts County improved and we lost the momentum. Not sure why Holloway keeps persisting with Palmer because we simply go long.
Drinan far more effective and needs to play more centrally with either Glatzel, Bodin or Prince in a two. Palmer far more effective coming off the bench.
The lad Munroe on loan is some player.

Frustrating although taking a point not the end of the World.
We always wake up the last 10 minutes and nearly won it. It’s League Two and we are at home again Saturday.
Atmosphere is dire at Swindon nowadays and not surprising as this is the longest we’ve been in the basement coupled with these owners.

There are obviously reasons why going long (which possibly dictates why Palmer is started) that IH thinks will work best. Possibly being caught in mf possession may have something to do with that. Does Palmer hold the ball so you can build or does he flick it on for your runners? Gifting goals/chances needs attention as one game you may not get out of being behind.

Imo a point last night is not a bad result in a game you could easily have lost, being in the game is most important as there's a long way to go. [I'm surprised at bad atmos but that does build when fan-discontent with someone/thing is festering].

On to the next game!

Before Palmer started and when we lost Smith it coincided with our best run in form.
Two up front, an additional player in midfield and we looked good.
We just hit aimless balls up to Palmer and lose possession.

Drinan is scoring and wasted out wide left to accommodate Palmer.
Drinan needs to play through the middle and stick Palmer on the bench.
IH picks the team and my opinion matters for nothing.

That's often the way, people try to create something when something that works is under their nose. Drinan seems like an answer to goals so accomodate him as best you can but moving him out to one side (unless he escapes marking by his movement to get some space in the main scoring areas) probly doesn't help. But if possession is frequently lost by playing it up to Palmer it defeats the point as it needs to be covered for (quickly) when it comes back.

If IH persists with something that doesn't work he's asking for trouble, you're a regular game attender so your opinion should count for a lot.
