Which is why I don't think age has much to do with our problems. The continued selections of failures like Muchall for example are the major problems. 94 runs in 9 innings is utter utter shit.

Players like Muchall have been carried by MDV, Benks, Colly for years now, as they diminish due to age, the failings of others will be shown up.

The situation with Gordon Muchall is a joke. There can not be another frontline batsman in county cricket with over 130 matches under there belt who has an average of less than TWENTY NINE.

This lad has conned a career out of DCCC for 11 years.

Will be interesting to see if he's selected for the next game with an average this season of 10.44

Who else do you think they could select? I don't think theres much depth in the squad in terms of batsmen so I'd be more than happy to try a youngster now, no mental scarring, exuberance of youth etc.

Richardson or Myburgh. No brainer really. Impossible to continue to someone averaging 10.44. Mitch Claydon has a better batting average

Forgot we had signed Myburgh, that makes the selection of Muchall all the more baffling, why sign the lad if he isn't going to improve that batting line up immediately?

Someone said the Journal reported that Myburgh was selected for the 2ndXI this week to get some longer day practice. He scored 70 in the 1 day game earlier in the week for the 2nd XI, not too sure how he went in the longer format as I think it was mainly rained off.

It will be interesting to see the team selection for the game starting on Friday.

Will be indeed, can't see how Muchall can retain his place, even the commentator on BBC Newcastle has more or less said he shouldn't be playing

regardless of the result here, full credit once again to the bowlers
