Anyone know when Hastings is due? He's never even played for Chennai so he might aswell come now!

Stuart Rayner of the Chronicle has said the following

"If Durham can claim this final batting point they will make the long journey home with 12 points, and their unbeaten record still intact. They will probably see that as four good days' work"

Which I can echo myself. 12 points from this must be seen as a great return after the opening day.

Fucked up. Missed out by 2 runs on batting points and 3 balls by bowling points. We'll get 11 points from this. Could've been 13.

well.... what a ..... erm..... i honestly have no words to describe that.

so much time spent sat in the stands looking at glorious sunshine with no cricket being played. we dominated the entire game bar one partnership, but what a partnership it was. sangakarra came in scored a fantastic 159 and still ended up being just the 3rd highest scorer in the match. another game in hove ends with a wicketkeeper bowling.

i f***ing love county cricket me like.

Great analysis. We certainly never seemed in any trouble. Although if you read the BBC report you'd think we were hanging on at 9 down for the final over!!

Should colly have taken the run chase?

do you mean forfeit to play a one innings match? i'd say no as we'd lose our batting points and still probsbly only get a draw, massive total to chase.

if you mean hoying wickets away to try adn get 400 in 110 then yes obviously. was very impressed with sangakarra's willingness to do whatever the team needed, wanting time at teh crease you could understand a bit if he had just batted along at 1 every 2 or 3 as he did to begin with when in trouble but the way he picked up teh pace when we needed to and was willing to go hell for leather, very good attitude.

There may come a time when the extra 5 points we could have gained by gambling on a result might mean the difference between winning the title, or even at the other end of the table and staying up, but not yet.

I'd rather save the "fixed" games for the last couple of fixtures when there's nothing to lose and everything to gain by setting up run chases.

Colly also accelerated the pace to try and get the extra batting point. It was just a shame the Colonel just couldn't get his timing right otherwise we'd have done it. Anyway, a cracking days cricket and a good pint of Harvey's Sussex to help relax in the sunshine .... roll on Taunton ...

aye, or we might have lost the match and ended up throwing away the extra 4 batting points we got and lose the title/div 1 status based on that...

it was a canny chase, with sussex needing the one wicket for an extra point and us really needing both our batsmen to stay in to get the extra batting point, i was chatting to some sussex guys about wondering if arshad would come in at 8 or wood [due to arshad's sore back] and as it turned out wood came in and batted gently whilst arshad was leathering everything from the off. i also said to those around mustard would either blast us home or get out quickly, as it happens he did neither, perhaps if the new bastmen had come in early.. hey ho hum, a great game to watch despite everything.

Didn't Arshad come in after the 110th over so the bowling wasn't as intense? It was really good cricket though when they were trying to get their extra bowling point and us trying to keep our wicket while on a run chase for the batting point, only to end up losing the wicket and being two runs short. Loved it me like

you could be right, wood was definitly before, i thought arshad was just before in the end too but i could be wrong.

gutting we missed the bowling point and the batting point by less than an over put together

Must admit my memory was slightly addled by the time I got home - we pub crawled back to Brighton Station! If Arshad was in while we were still in the hunt for a point it must have been Mustard on strike and bless him he just didn't read the pitch right and was slightly early with his strikes as the ball didn't come through as fast as he expected. Just hope that the rest of the season isn't as stressful :lol:

Roll on Taunton?

I think I'd be happy with Liverpool at the moment

Aye, but the C AMRA Tent is always worth a visit ...... not much chance of us playing them in the near future either. What's the next Durham game you'll be at then?
