Surrey v Durham CC 2025

I bet Strauss is laughing his head off.

He recommended using Kookaburra's....and he got paid for it.

I still remember Atherton mocking him when they were both doing commentary soon after that review came out. He knew like all cricket fans that those recommendations were a joke.
Strauss and Key as batsman would love the kookaburra in England so they could rack up runs

I would love to know the opinion of every current England test bowler and the top county level bowlers opinions on it

Over the moon with that to be honest. A lot of bed wetting comments about the lads for a couple of days, yes 820 is a lot of runs but totally needless and it's worked in our favour massively, so to take I think 11 points from Surrey away is a very good outcome. Total arrogance from Surrey.

Kookaburra thing is a joke, don't need to go into anymore details about that.

I just hope especially on social media, those who only appear when "things are shit" are quick to praise the lads because that has been a tough and rough few days in some extreme temperatures, they deserve a lot of credit for digging in.

Proud of this team, proper good strong stick together attitude and that'll do me just fine.
Do we not need to complain about their lack of quality this week or have a go at North for the squad he’s assembled because they’ve got a draw away from home?

I stand by my view of North which has been a long term criticism, not just this season, which numerous people on here can vouch for.

I haven't criticised the players, so you will need to aim that question at other posters. If folk wish to complain, then carry on but I have absolutely no complaints about the team on the pitch at the moment, can't fault their effort, commitment and desire and they have shown that big time over the last 4 days.

We have a very very good coach who is getting the best out the team he has been handed. We would have crumbled this game under Franklin.

Absolutely, I didn’t want to say much at the end of Day 2 as I didn’t want to jinx the lads, but I’m so pleased the game has petered out into such a dull and inevitable draw.

There’s no way a Ryan Campbell team would’ve done something as ridiculous as that. As I say, they could’ve declared a session earlier to attempt to truly force a result and they’d have still had plenty of runs to rule out the chance of a defeat.

Anyway, there it is, Lees hundred, handshakes alround. Durham take 11 points from the game.
Any rational cricketer should have the foresight to realise the dangers of batting too long.

From a Yorkshire supporter. Really glad the southern arrogant ****** failed to win. They batted on far to long just for an ego trip and to break a record. Serve them right. 600 would have been a ample for them.
The real reason why its rare for teams to score 850 runs is that you need the time that you waste getting 250 of them to bowl the other side out twice.

(Here's me telling a Yorkshireman how to play cricket -)

If course but that's for to be weighed against increasing the chances of victory.

Indeed, but I’d argue recent history has shown that bowlers are more effective if you can get them a session or so worth of rest in between innings. Had they declared at Lunch on Day 2 and then bowled us out in the time they did, they’d have been able to use the last session yesterday to rest their quicks ahead of going full go today. Their seamers looked so innocuous today running in during their 7th and 8th sessions in the field.

Arrogant pricks. Would love to hear what @TheRey thinks, because I’m certain he won’t be happy with his team’s tactics in this game.

The commentator there “it’s been a terrific match” I’m not sure which game he’s describing, cause it can’t be that one.
I'm pretty chill about it. The pitch was an absolute pudding - even on day 4, there were absolutely no demons -and the ball - the less said, the better.

We batted exceptionally quickly, if it was England everyone would be going on about the wonders of Bazball.

The reality is that Durham were always gonna have at least one huge score in them on that pitch. Declaring on 600, you'd assume Durham would make 450, so no follow on, so time taken out the game again for us to build up a big enough lead (given the pitch and ball, again, youre looking 500+), declare and bowl again.

The only way a victory was in anyway likely was get an absolutely mammoth score and hope scoreboard pressure leads to a collapse.

Not sure how that can be labelled arrogance, to be honest!

Yeh but the declaring on 600+ gives you the scenario where if you had to bat a 2nd time you're giving your bowlers a rest between the opposition's 2 innings.

I think you can make a case for either/or to be honest.

The Ball is the reason it was a dull draw, whatever tactics were used.
