Was in the town yesterday Christmas shopping and it was heaving,was great to see and reminded me of my younger years when I would go shopping with my mam etc in the 80s/90s ,spent a fortune especially on those stalls that were all setup up as you walked in the bridges,had a few beers aswel,Sunderland is still a great place to go and I wouldn’t gan nee where else if honest![]()

I was there for a good 4 hours yesterday and was packed all the time I was there mate ,was brilliant just like the good old daysDaughter was in town today and said she’d never seen it as busy

That area is earmarked for more offices, the business district.I’m still convinced that turning old m and s shop into a market place and shutting Jackie whites would work

They arent pulling down the three towers,or have i missed something?That area is earmarked for more offices, the business district.
That said, if they are looking to pull down the three tower blocks in the centre you could make up a parcel of land for redevelopment if you moved Jackie Whites market.
