Support our City Centre - Sunderland

It's absolutely tragic to be having a go at people supporting the city centre, on a thread about supporting the city centre, on a forum dedicated to the football club of said city centre.

Genuinely just an absolutely bleak existence, honestly if I ever reach that point just put me down.

Was in the town yesterday Christmas shopping and it was heaving, was great to see and reminded me of my younger years when I would go shopping with my mam etc in the 80s/90s ,spent a fortune especially on those stalls that were all setup up as you walked in the bridges, had a few beers aswel,Sunderland is still a great place to go and I wouldn’t gan nee where else if honest 🤷🏻‍♂️

Daughter was in town today and said she’d never seen it as busy
We drove across the Tyne bridge at 1330 and no traffic at all

I’m still convinced that turning old m and s shop into a market place and shutting Jackie whites would work
Bit like Kensington market was or there’s a similar idea in north Berwick

That area is earmarked for more offices, the business district.
That said, if they are looking to pull down the three tower blocks in the centre you could make up a parcel of land for redevelopment if you moved Jackie Whites market.

Good idea, not sure what you could do with jacky whites tho, need the road access at back for shops etc.
