Support our City Centre - Sunderland

Coming through from Durham tonight for the Inspirals at The Fire Station. Thinking about trying Sheepfolds but might stick with the City Centre cos I've just had a knee replacement so walking all the way back over will cripple me. Any recommendations for bait in the Centre for me and the Mrs please?
We enjoyed the Inspirals and the dj in the Engine Room afterwards kept the mood going.... the Parade Ground was good as a venue.

Hope you got some decent food..... we sat outside The Peacock talking to police....really chilled atmosphere, it was good

Good to see the Peacock busy yesterday.

What’s daytime drinking like (Saturday) like around Keel Square?

The mrs (no) being a mag usually gets us to head to Newcastle as it’s always busy during the day.

Convinced her to try Sunderland this time but no idea where to go or how busy it gets.

Cheers in advance

And great thread by the way 👌

Up Tuesday to see family. Planning on taking the kids to the aqua assault course if there's any spaces left. Where's best for parking for the aquatic centre? Can you park at the stadium these days? Plan to nip into the town Saturday regardless.

Yea just park at the stadium car park. It’s free all day.

Yesterday the city was bouncing in the sun -great to see .
The new outdoor venue at the Fire Station was sold out last night and is a tremendous addition -whoever designed that -take a bow
The band themselves seemed to love playing it -great sound system.

The Botanist, Keel Tavern, The Peacock, the Engine Room and the Dun Cow will all be busy the rest will be a lot livelier later.

First time in sheepfolds yesterday from about 4pm. Cracking place and atmosphere. Will be the place to watch the match, great big screen. When the bridge is built itll be even better. Great to see whats happening with sunderland.

I think she will be surprised, I used to work in Newcastle for 20 years , out after work in south gosforth most Fridays , eventually got my mates , all from Newcastle to come through for a drink in Sunderland, all were impressed , that was years ago , still come through now, there seems to be a new pub or pubs to try each time , Sunderland pub scene is really on the up

Sunderland is now easily just as good as Newcastle for daytime drinking. Other than the Quayside on a sunny day, I can’t think of why I’d want to choose Newcastle over Sunderland at the minute. And I live closer to Newcastle. The added benefit of Sunderland as well is that it’s a smaller centre and more compact so it’s less of a trek to get from one bar to the next. That route from Green Terrace down Low Row, round the Dun Cow, Keel Square and now Sheepfolds (especially when the bridge opens) will be as good as anywhere in the north east imo. And this isn’t even including our beautiful coastline with all its bars and restaurants. Sunderland is honestly underrated.
