Deaths are grouped together as a Trust and not the same split like cases but even so they're creeping up. Bear in mind, these are not daily deaths or the last 24 hours. They are deaths that have been added to the cumulative total. They could have died a day or more ago, sometimes weeks.
The figures for Sunderland are terrifying

Hope you're ok mate

Thanks. Mrs started with a hacking cough 2 weeks ago, and was laid up in bed over the weekend. We'd been isolating anyway for a week beforehand which means anything else would have shown symptoms before then. Then last Thursday I started a mild cough. On Monday at 2am I woke in the night with problems breathing. That lasted half an hour then spent the morning hacking up. After then everything has gone back to normal. I'm on day 8 now so allowed out of isolation. Was bloody scary like.

Thanks.

The case to death ratio for Sunderland and South Tyneside seems quite high?

I wonder if its a reflection of the demographic, or the quality of care at the twin hospitals versus say the RVI or a bit of both, or maybe something completely different. I have appointments every six months at the RVI (ocassionslly the Freeman). I've had surgery twice at Sunderland in the past, and spent a week in South Shields hospital (25 years ago though). Given the choice if I was struck down with this thing I'd prefer to be treated at the RVI.
