Sunderland will face Saudi Arabian opposition Al Shabab in Friendly (poll in Parsnip)

He was spot on from the start of Donald’s reign. Iirc Donald tried to get the police involved to stop him tweeting about the finances, or something to that extent.
I can remember something about him having to leave his job on the back of Donald’s grudge

A look at your posting history suggests you may well be a mag.
we've got a couple of weeks off and half of the squad injured, and we can't afford to put a £15k net up to protect home fans, regardless of the fact its in saudi f***ing arabia, what exactly is the point in this?

going to cost the club a fortune, for what?

what is the point in 'warm weather training' when the next 3 or 4 months of league games are going to be played in British winter time conditions?

why can't the club could just do nothing, say nothing, just keep their heads down and get on with things quietly for a change.

Spot on.

Warm weather training ffs.

Strange decision.

Clearly a PR disaster and not even sure why they need to play a match while away, let alone against opposition of dreadful quality.

What’s in it for the other side? Are they there at the same time or are there financial incentives to it? Doesn’t make much sense tbh and could so easily have avoided all of this.
I honestly think kld is whoring us around the middle east looking for investment. Shame on him

I think the Neil episode makes this a complete non starter.
Good chance for him to get into Pritchard and Stewart’s ears though.
I did wonder if hed burnt his bridges behind the scenes ( fans being let down etc seldom comes into the equation )

Any of your ITKs aware if your game is behind closed doors or open to the public ( might give an indication to if ours is BCD as suspect it will be held on the same training complex .. Jebel Ali

Stoke have been UAE several times , but only arranged a game once ( in Ajman ) .. hosts moved the venue 60 miles , we hired a taxi to take us over to the new venue , wait for us whilst the game was on , then take us back .. found out 5 miles out Stoke / Pulis hadn’t taken kindly to being messed about so weren’t turning up !! .. pity they didn’t tell us 😂but no wonder we’ve not arranged a game since 😂

Asian countries can't get the world cup again until 2034 ;)
I thought the same but apparently not

If the Mags weren't Saudi owned, would the reaction be the same?
Not even close. Might be one or two uncomfortable with it but it wouldnt even be a talking point, unless it was that a takeover for you's could be on the cards due to this fixture

I'm not really sure why there's so much outrage? It's a Saudi Arabian team, that's it.
Provides them with exposure and validation that they have an acceptable sports system. They don’t. And they shouldn’t receive any validation from western teams until they put a government in place that stops killing and raping children. Simple as that really.

This game aside I think it’s a joke that they are going to Dubai. Holiday destination for the most tedious dull wankers on earth. Is this the kind of direction and culture we want to be setting at the club?
