*~*~* Sunderland v Stoke match thread *~*~*

Absolutely atrocious conditions and I thought both sides produced an entertaining game despite that.
We played well and could have scored 6 or 7 on another day and credit to Stoke they had a few chances in the first half and played some good stuff.
Great to see young Tommy be a match winner he’s going to be a star.
I thought Dan Neil and Luke O’Nien were outstanding amongst an overall excellent team effort.
Well done to all of the lads that certainly wasn’t easy today.
Good post, too many people criticising the players while sitting in the comfort of their front room watching on tv. The conditions were horrendous and as you said I think both teams deserve credit.

Nightmare walking back to the car after the match never mind trying to kick a football 😂

O9 was excellent again today. The lad never gets enough credit.
He's an absolute bedrock player for us. Solid, great at covering the ground, fit as a lop and gives everything on the pitch, in whatever position. There's not a team in the league that doesn't wish they had a Luke09. Of course, our resident experts say that he has a mistake in him in every game or "whatabout that own goal"?
I wish we had more O'Niens at the club and fewer of our experts.

Crikey what a day. Had set about doing the front brakes on the car as it was still relatively mild out and thankfully got a garage that just about fits the car and me in.

Finished that at 11:50, thinking to myself hmm nearly 12pm, I've a nagging feeling it's an early kick off today.

Checked phone and found out it was, didn't get gone until 12 as the bairn wasn't ready. Unexpected road test of new brakes in torrential rain, shot through the tunnel, got parked up on Newcastle Road and saw that on paper we had until 2:30pm before they'd start issuing tickets (you know full well they're probably out in this weather).

Got to the ground, was already 1-1 and 12 minutes gone, so we'd missed those. Thought we'd have to leave early to get back for car but risked staying to the end and thank fk we did. Bairn saw his half-time birthday message at least and had the bright idea of moving around to the east stand for the last 10 mins so had good sight of the winner.

Thought Sunderland had several 'good' chances, one hit the far post in the first half, their keeper made some regulation saves. Stoke seemed to have come for a draw and the whole thing felt like a deflating repeat of the WBA game.

Ever so pleased with the late winner but Jobe was causing heart attacks with some wayward passing and needlessly holding onto it. He's been an enigma since coming back from the ban IMO, lots of short 'safe' passes around midfield or back to defence, yet I think he took the low/powerful free kick that could have led to 2-1?

Onwards and upwards anyway.
Who’s playing you ?
