*~*~* Sunderland v Stoke match thread *~*~*

Also whoever writes the echo ratings needs to give their head a shake

5 for Jobe man
Watching on the telly I thought he had a quiet game until they showed his touches map. He was everywhere and obviously very influential. I blame the crummy commentary on these Sky Plus games.
I'm also popping into Specsavers Monday

We created chances today but didn't score easily/take advantage

In no particular order, Roberts, Hume, Isadore and Watson ( although he did score 2, so he is forgiven) plus Alese, who else?

Finishing/shooting practice required.

It's good that we are creating chances, but our conversion rate must be down in the dumps!
Chris rigg. Missed a sitted in 1st half from about 8 yards out. Think he had his wellies on.

As a team we are weak as piss in front of goal.

Absolutely atrocious conditions and I thought both sides produced an entertaining game despite that.
We played well and could have scored 6 or 7 on another day and credit to Stoke they had a few chances in the first half and played some good stuff.
Great to see young Tommy be a match winner he’s going to be a star.
I thought Dan Neil and Luke O’Nien were outstanding amongst an overall excellent team effort.
Well done to all of the lads that certainly wasn’t easy today.

O9 was excellent again today. The lad never gets enough credit.

Crikey what a day. Had set about doing the front brakes on the car as it was still relatively mild out and thankfully got a garage that just about fits the car and me in.

Finished that at 11:50, thinking to myself hmm nearly 12pm, I've a nagging feeling it's an early kick off today.

Checked phone and found out it was, didn't get gone until 12 as the bairn wasn't ready. Unexpected road test of new brakes in torrential rain, shot through the tunnel, got parked up on Newcastle Road and saw that on paper we had until 2:30pm before they'd start issuing tickets (you know full well they're probably out in this weather).

Got to the ground, was already 1-1 and 12 minutes gone, so we'd missed those. Thought we'd have to leave early to get back for car but risked staying to the end and thank fk we did. Bairn saw his half-time birthday message at least and had the bright idea of moving around to the east stand for the last 10 mins so had good sight of the winner.

Thought Sunderland had several 'good' chances, one hit the far post in the first half, their keeper made some regulation saves. Stoke seemed to have come for a draw and the whole thing felt like a deflating repeat of the WBA game.

Ever so pleased with the late winner but Jobe was causing heart attacks with some wayward passing and needlessly holding onto it. He's been an enigma since coming back from the ban IMO, lots of short 'safe' passes around midfield or back to defence, yet I think he took the low/powerful free kick that could have led to 2-1?

Onwards and upwards anyway.

Yeah they did. Got behind the defence a few times from the wings. That game was far too open but clearly the conditions made it a strange game.
Funny old game but I thought they offered fuck all
Quite few posting during the match on here.
Mind that was one of the worst games I've been too for driving rain, it looked like it was hitting the back of the South stand.
Row 30 and I was being pelted with rain
