*~*~* Sunderland v Plymouth match thread *~*~*

Automatics are gone, not because of this one result today, but what the result solidified, that we can't beat the teams we should comfortably beat and we can't see out a game on a consistent basis.

Wish RLB would learn his lesson that throwing on big CBs and sitting back inviting pressure is not the way to see out a game. We must have dropped more points in the last 10 mins than any other team in English professional football this season.
Totally agree, every time he’s done that we’ve been on the back foot.

Always a banana skin this game and whilst all fans of many clubs probably think the same, it does feel like we are the experts at slipping on them.

Onwards and upwards

I don’t know if we will get top two or not because it’s very close and ever team is dropping daft points. “Miles off” is just idiotic, because we aren’t.
Fair enough, agree there are loads more twists and turns ahead. Sunderland need to be more consistent and not drop the daft points.

Just like we read we’ll be top 2. We’re miles off it and a lot of posters on here are in denial. Burnley took the piss out of them. We sat back against them. It’s not top two mentality.
I don't think we're a top 2 team looking at the performances and as you say the mentality. Too many times we go defensive, sit back, invite pressure from very poor teams and drop points

Sides a goal down with ten minutes to go will just throw everything at it. No excuses for our inability to defend against it mind, we were gash today and fortunate not to concede more. How I wish we had some bugger up top who can head a ball. Old fashioned it may be but it works against sides packing their penalty area.

Oh, and while I'm here, why on earth did Regis choose to start the hapless Samed? He must look a lot better in training than he's shown in his time on the pitch.

Why?

The lineup and the set up was questionable.
Performance was mostly abject.

The subs and defensive nature at the end contributed to losing points.

Bring defensive players on and invite pressure and then still fail to stop crosses or deal with high balls into the box.

Any criticism today has been brought on by selection and in game subs and tactics.
