*~*~* Sunderland v Millwall match thread *~*~*

Swansea, who are immediately below us on GD, just stuffed Huddersfield 0-4. I wonder what their motivation was?
proper head coach? I think it makes a huge difference having some sense of stability.
It's absoloutely unacceptable, I really just want focus attention at the piss poor and petulant performance of the board this season.

If we know that sacking Mowbray was a mistake- the players must know it even better, having had to work with his semi-charlatan sucessor and then just being left to get on with it with Dodds.
Basically the club has let it be known that we don't have any standards-it goes all the way through the club. Speakman doesn't have to take responsibility for poor recruitment (perhaps even sacking Mowbray for attempting to hold him publically accountable), Dodds is here till the end of the season and will maintain his job as a coach whatever happens, and the same players will be playing regardless of performance, with a few fringe players rotated every so often.

It's a structural issue essentially.

No fucking way am I spoiling my birthday weekend and coming to the fucking Sheffield Wed game. Think I'll find a big hill somewhere and camp on top of it while getting pissed.
I was gutted today when the third official held 7 minutes about his head. The decisions made by those behind the scenes this season couldn't have made this team worse if they'd actually tried to make us shite on purpose

That’s just an excuse.
Referring to my reply to another poster, regarding the lack of motivation, what I mean is that it's what you would expect given our position and the structure of the club right now:

"If we know that sacking Mowbray was a mistake- the players must know it even better, having had to work with his semi-charlatan sucessor and then just being left to get on with it with Dodds.

I don't believe better players, or more experienced players would solve the problem at this moment- it's the lack of accountability/performance expectations, right through the club.

The manager/coach situation has been a farce.

But we also are weak all over the pitch and have little strength in depth. It’s worrying how short we are and how much money we’d need to spend to become credible promotion candidates.

I think we’re more likely to be league 1 than premier league when we next change division.

The owners thought they could get success on the cheap with a bizarre model. Last season sadly supported their beliefs on that. This season has shown us how far off we are.

To be 16 points off the play off places having been in them at the start of 2024 is staggering.

What you’re saying is right. I just don’t think we should give those players excuses to hide behind, ie interim manager.
Why take Rigg off again? Especially immediately after Ekwah had bottled a 60/40.
Nice to see Styles is equally as ineffective in his preferred position, mind
Shocked by styles, who’d have thought he’d be equally horrendous in midfield!
