*~*~* Sunderland v Hull match thread *~*~*

No arguments with that.

I really thought Rusyn could work something up top, but we created nothing for him. I still think he's currently our best option.

A few times tonight he got free and the ball into him was wank, a couple from Clarke went behind him and a couple more he never got the pass at all

Hemir looked better as he allowed the midfield to limp aimless passes at him, but I don't remember him threatening the goal in his 20 mins either.
Take Bellingham out of the team and play Rusyn as a ten with a striker, we will score goals, as Rusyn will get beyond the striker something none of our midfield have done all season

I don’t know how he’s managed it , but he appears to have got the whole team shitting themselves from the 1st minute.

We went head to head with Leicester ( ok we got beat ) but they played with a belief and a courage. These now look like they are terrified
Scared to make a run , a forward pass , to overlap , to have a crack at goal.

He has managed to eradicate all the joy , bravery , risk and confidence out of them in the space of about 3 weeks.

All this may be true. But I think the Perryqhill post earlier in the thread (not going to search for it) is spot on. Recruitment this summer has been poor. Very poor. And that's the root cause. Why TM couldn't get a consistent tune out of the new recruits. Unsuprisingly MB can't. It would have been worse ... Speakman was trying to get shot of Pritch.

I love Rusyn’s attitude and movement. He is not our answer at 9. Have to be honest though I think we need a goal threat at 10 and 9 and not sure we have either

My take on that.
Pritch has to be in the middle. Jobe isn’t terrible but we simply have to play Pritch in his best position. That said his dead balls were shite. If I’m honest I think we need a 10 with a bigger goal threat.

Jobe should have been pulled to get Ba on sooner and move Pritch BUT I can see why they kept him on instead of Ekwah who was slow and shite

One dimensional - everything goes left and that is why they can load up- they know where it’s going every time and pile up the numbers - and that’s because have no depth on the wings

Pace - the speed we distribute the ball has no pace and urgency - at times all we did was run with the ball. It’s ponderous.
Defensively I thought we were better than last week until the at dire goal

Our goal threat. Despite everybody bleating on about it - I’ll say it again. Rusyn at this point is NOT the answer at 9. If our leadership don’t sort this problem they deserve all they get. Hemir’s physicality maybe brought something better but the options are shocking for an aspiring premier league side.

Did we play well? No. Did Hull deserve to win? Did they fuck. They won with two huge slices of luck when we were on top.
Beale? I think we’re getting worse. Yes he needs players - left back , winger, striker all highlighted tonight - we had three central midfielders and all 3 were shite tonight. So change it. We had nothing threatening the right, so f***ing change it. At this point he looks uninspiring. I’d ditch him for Rosenior in a nano second who’s sharpness highlights the opposite.
Even if we did all that we would still lose

The problem isn’t who does what and where, the problem is that Beale is hopeless and shouldn’t have been appointed

Objectively Hull never came to win, happy to sit back, waste time and maybe take a chance when would try to make them come out.
As much as “ the players can do better” there’s no encouragement from the sidelines at all.
Noticed pet shop boys “shopping “ was played over the tannoy at half time. Hopefully that’s a cue for speakman to take notice of.

I am worried about Beale now I’ve seen his minimal impact but it’s never right that there is only one problem. If we had a 9 a strong right winger, goal scoring ten, two fullbacks it changes

Errors were made in the game before oniens header. Do they not count?

Patterson had the ball in two hands after the header. But he isn’t to blame.

The referee missed a goal kick. But he isn’t to blame.

We fail to clear the first ball. Not to blame

Prichard gets a foot on the ball. No blame.

Nobody marking carvalho. No blame.

It’s mad. You’re completely making the scenario fit to blame O’Nien.

I don’t think he’s a brilliant defender at all but you’re forcing the story here to fit blame to him. It’s completely forced
Onien being responsible doesn’t make others also not responsible, last I checked. Don’t recall saying solely responsible. But it’s yet another in a long list of goals he’s cost us this season

TM was not a shit manager. He was struggling and lacked a plan B but he never let a team put that level of performance in despite his failings
Not having a plan B isn’t a sign of a bad manager in your eyes? Do you think it’s acceptable at this level to not have a plan B?

Are you forgetting Stoke at home last year?
