Sunderland railway station.

The £26m just for the station entrance and building? If that's right then it's great news. Plans for North entrance to be developed too! Don't mind each section done in stages if it mean higher quality in the long term.

Also first time I've seen 4 platforms mentioned officially. Also good.

Certainly sounds like the ambition is there this time and not just a quick face lift.

Foresee the issuing being the council / network rail getting money to fund the below ground works from central government. Also would rail operators be attracted to running more services?

That was supposed to happen about 18 months back & still nowts happened
Shame. They'd stand to do well enough on a matchday in any case, not to mention with the entrance to a train station across the road.

Someone wants to do something with that building. Hurts to look at it.

Good news about the station though.

Think something has interfered with the hospitality industry since then.

No man, before then.
Someone on here was saying it was going to be open ready for xmas 2019

And even then, theres several months of work needed to make it into a bar. So if it was happening, they could be on sorting it out.

Is that all ??? .Absolute pennies. If it were Newcastle station it would be £ 116 million.
You are probably right but Newcastle is something like a 12 platform starting and grade 1 listed building? Sunderland staying has two platforms.

it will probably cost £116m to get said platforms and a northern station entrance.

They should use the old station across the river which is now a fans museum, so that any mags arriving into Sunderland get to see how class we are
