Sunderland music thread

These songs you are putting up by the Golden Virgins, Hyde and Beast, the Futureheads etc. show what a fantastic music scene there was/is in Sunderland - the fact that they all helped each other, were in each others bands show what a real scene it was. And that's despite the lack of live venues. Some, especially on here, will call these bands shite but each one of them (especially Field Music) constantly got great reviews in the likes of Q, the Guardian, Uncut etc. Many other places like Newcastle have had great bands but not a bona fide scene. There are still decent bands in Sunderland such as Roxy Girls, Bigfatbig but maybe not as many as there were 10 years ago. Let's hope that post-Covid and with things like the new auditorium some of the spirit of the Futureheads can get another vibrant scene up and running.

Excellent post the talent is certainly there in our city.

I've not heard any stuff by Bigfatbig or Roxy Girls but intend to now thanks for the heads up.
