Nah it was tickets, couple of us went down the week before and bought 50 looking at the amount of Sunderland in there I think quite a few other people did the same.

Tranmere on the Friday night was pay on the gate and the Kop was way, way overfull. Phillips and Summerbee scored in the far end from us.

There were more people than seats in the kop end so fuck knows how they all got in if it was tickets. :-?

Aye thats the game i must be thinking of.

I dont remember anything being in the papers like. I think a lot of hooliganism gets blown out of proportion these days. I can honestly say, ive never seen hell on outside SOL (i can count on one hand the games i've missed). Maybe ive just never been in the right place, its a big place after all. But i do think a lot gets blown out of proportion and "hell on" probably means 10 or so handbags flying around before they're pleased to see the police arrive.

it was deffinitly in the papers, along with trouble vs boro and the mags.
it does get blown out of proportion alot but those 3 were actually large scale.

sheff utd a few years back was interesting aswell. i somehow got stuck in a sheff utd escort after the game heading through the town getting glasses etc hoyed at us. not nice having shit pelted at you by your own side like

This post is so sad. Seems to me that to be a hooligan
you have got to fight in packs. Put any of these hooligans
in a one on one situation and i bet they fuckin shit themselves.
Embarassing really:oops:

same as any other walk of life. some would shit themselves, some wouldnt. though tbh i reckon most wouldnt or theyd be laughed out

Tranmere away was mental, think it was pay on the gate though!?...

We packed the kop end which was a fair size, there were people sat near the pitch, stood on the stairs etc and we seemed to have fans in the home ends aswell.

Remember one of our lot running from the home end after we scored and diving into us.

I don't think the coppers could believe how many we brought down and were getting slighty concerned when more and more kept pilling in.

Tranmere was class like,I was sitting behind Craig Russell(think he was at Man City then),unbelievable following for a Friday neet like.

speaking of times gone by ...it was the way it was in the 70s up untill 80s before it got as they say organized noone askiny u to read or take part ...

It was a Saturday, we got beat two nil and the scousers couldn't understand why we were singing and chanting after they'd just been awarded a penalty, the lads on the radios had just passed the message on that Andy Cole had scored against Boro. We were promoted and Man U were champions brilliant f***ing day. !!

Bumped into Spurs firm a few year ago at Darlo station. Hundreds of the fuckers and everyone of them, that i could see looked like an absolute psycho.

That was a Sunday.
The one the bloke before was talking about, the pay of the gate, was a Friday, night before the National, I was at both.

over the years sland have had a few run ins with spurs ,they tried to enter the fulwell mid 70s got chased out in minutes and in the roker had to climb onto the track to escape from the roker end their place was a different matter along seven sisters rd was always dodgy and inside could be also as they would mix in with you before kicking off.....mid 70s era ...

:lol::lol: Unlucky!

The coppers pretty much have it under control in and around the grounds these days so i suppose it depends what your definition of large scale is.

I would say the worst ive seen at SOL was with the mags, i think the first time we played them there. They were getting escorted over the bridge, don't think it was a massive crowd of them either. A few of them were on the floor with with coppers and dogs on top of them. One or two of our lads trying to get at them. Not exactly hell on but would be if there was no police presence. In the same way it will be on Oct 31st when i'll be safely marched up to the ground without incident. Yet im sure some will report it as full-scale riots

Us lot going mad just as Aldridge was about take a penalty because Man United scored at Boro. He just stood there looking in bewildermant at us jumping all over the stands

The quote you have replied to he said the we scored. The Aldridge game , we didn't score. Therein lies the mix up that you and TLR have fell into.

I have drank in and around Roker before and after the matches for years and saw hardly any bother.
