The Segunda Division B (third tier) is the most brutal level of football ever as well.
Almost every single game finishes 0-0 or 1-0, the standard is dreadful, teams find it almost impossible to get promoted with the convoluted play-off/group format.
What marks it out as difficult is - in a normal season where there's four groups of 20 - the standard varies from some at L1 to others of NL ability. You have historic clubs marooned there such as Depor, Racing, Hercules, Real Murcia, Cordoba, mixing it with B-teams and clubs from very small towns with Northern League-like facilities.
I'm not even going to waste time attempting to explain the play-offs, but even winning your Group won't guarantee promotion, and so you're in a set-up where there are 4 promotion places for 80 teams.
On the other hand the Segunda A is probably the most competitive league in the whole of Europe, with those 4 relegation places in a 22-team league.
Last season Depor were relegated with 51 points from 42 games. Elche were promoted to La Liga with 61 - just 10 points more than Depor managed. Hell and heaven separated by a wafer.
