The Segunda Division B (third tier) is the most brutal level of football ever as well.

Almost every single game finishes 0-0 or 1-0, the standard is dreadful, teams find it almost impossible to get promoted with the convoluted play-off/group format.

What marks it out as difficult is - in a normal season where there's four groups of 20 - the standard varies from some at L1 to others of NL ability. You have historic clubs marooned there such as Depor, Racing, Hercules, Real Murcia, Cordoba, mixing it with B-teams and clubs from very small towns with Northern League-like facilities.

I'm not even going to waste time attempting to explain the play-offs, but even winning your Group won't guarantee promotion, and so you're in a set-up where there are 4 promotion places for 80 teams.

On the other hand the Segunda A is probably the most competitive league in the whole of Europe, with those 4 relegation places in a 22-team league.

Last season Depor were relegated with 51 points from 42 games. Elche were promoted to La Liga with 61 - just 10 points more than Depor managed. Hell and heaven separated by a wafer.

And many games on plastic pitches.

The injustice for Deportivo of course was they did not get to play their last game at the same time as relegation rivals on the last day due to a Covid outbreak in the opposition squad.

Their fall has been even quicker than ours.
18 months ago, they went to Mallorca defending a 2 nil lead in the play off final to go back up to the first.
Lost 3 nowt the rest is history.

What coruna like as a place?
Nice. Lovely golden city centre beaches as if Sunderland city centre was ower Roker n Seaburn without the cold weather. But man can it rain. All the balconies have little double glazed type conservatory things on them becos of the rain.
Huge big roman lighthouse on sticky out bit that splits the beach into two. No directflights from U.K. but Santiago where the religious pilgrimage ends is about 30 miles away with direct flights.
@pablo casals lived there. He’d do a way better brochure than I ever could.

Aye. As he says lovely place.
Surrounded by water, with the city centre backing onto the two big Roker/ Seaburn type beaches. Orzan and Riazor.
The Riazor stadium right on the beach too.
Great nightlife, people and seafood. Just rains too much otherwise I'd have been there the last 20 odd years.

I remember working away in Bristol when they knocked the Mags out of the UEFA Cup (when the Mags really fancied their chances of winning it). Was a few Mags in the boozer as well.
Canny evening.

Over 30000 at Deportivo tonight.
Top of Spanish 3rd Division Group A class with Racing Santander.

Deportivo are top and 5 points clear of Racing. Win and they go a long way to getting back to the 2nd.

They’ve had some tough times recently but most of their fans will be able to remember winning La Liga and playing champions league football.

They've done a safc tonight lost 1 nil and choked in front of 30 thousand.

They've now lost 3 in a row. Only top side definitely promoted from this league. And Racing now 2 points behind

Racing went up automatically but.... Deportivo through to play off finals tonight to get back to the Spanish 2nd. Sound familiar?

Beat linares 4 nowt over 90 mins. in their stadium in front of 26000.
Final next Satda In La Coruna again versus Albacete (the shittest Town in Spain).

Deportivo. Vamos a ganar este Partido.

Albacete at home next Satda 5pm. English time.
They'll fill the stadium 32000.

Albacete have decent yo-yo pedigree between Segunda B (still coming to terms with the new RFEF crack) and Segunda don't they? Still its Depor and they're never a third tier club. Hopefully they get the job done.
