Sunderland city parking...

Parked on the rooftop fist time in years...
Was there literally 10 minutes...& charged 3 quid for the pleasure. Absolute piss take... if sunderland want people to use the town centre, they need to make it more appealing to motorists heading in.

Mrs Coat (no) parked up there the other week.
Same thing.... but it's not Council run - it's some fucker up in Scotland that the money goes to.

From a new report the other day Sunderland Council makes £400k a year from parking charges.
There are 133k households in Sunderland who pay council tax.
If they put up the council tax by £3 we could have free parking.

Obviously people who don't have cars will feel hard done by, but if this drives trade to the city centre, then we get better shops and associated businesses.

Also the top 2 Sunderland council execs get £400k a year, so we could get rid of those and achieve the same result.

Shouldn’t have anyone at the Council on anywhere near that salary never mind two.

Not quite. I believe that's £400k profit, so wouldn't work like that, as you'd still have all the operating costs of maintaining the car parks.

Also are you suggesting an organisation as large as the council run without a CEO?

They don't. I think hes suggesting its £400k combined.
Think the CEO is on about £200k which a decent sized unitary council is the going rate.
