Exactly my point. When everyone is fit there is probably only Root, Stokes and maybe Archer guaranteed starters.

ECB venue schedule for the next 3 of years.

Surprised Trent Bridge has been overlooked for The Ashes in 2023 again after the game in 2015 and not having one in 2019.

They missed out on 2009 ashes anarl iirc

Holds thousands less than the other major alternatives so I can’t blame the ECB.

Yet Durham, Hampshite and Cardiff (twice) have had ashes tests more recently iirc

That's the thing. I don't think if Rory Burns can really nail down his spot he'd do well, but he's miles off that ATM. Of the few permanent fixtures, as bad as he may be in some people's eyes (I personally don't think he's a great captain, average to poor for me), he's the only possible choice, and I think he knows that too.
