Strauss and his stupid ideas....

Yes there is. We can reject it. The counties can reject it. Cricket as a collective can reject it. If nobody goes, it’ll fail. It may take bankruptcy but we’ll get our game back eventually.

You’re in the minority then, because everyone else knows what it is - BIN THE 16.4 and immediately the problem vanishes.

Love it.

Im not in the minority, the 100 isnt being binned

After title by beating Yorkshire by seven wickets their captain, the former England opener Rory Burns, said a 10-game competition “would be too short for the required integrity of the County Championship”. Their head coach, Gareth Batty, said of the proposed reforms: “I hope we’re doing it for the greater good of the game, not to keep celebrity cricket alive.”

"personally i would love to see england be the best team in the world across all formats" - aye which is why you ruined the competition we are world champions in
The conclusion to the ECB's high performance review, designed to ensure England has the best chance to succeed in 20-over, 50-over and Test cricket is to... prioritise a format of the game played by nobody else in the world. Absolute shambles :lol::lol:
Perhaps introduce a “natural development” of the Hundred. Call it the “Hundred Plus”. More balls, more teams, more local, more excitement!”
In other words 120 balls, 18 teams, home games for every county ground. Every one wins! Play most games on Friday nights.

I’d also like to see a return of the Sunday league. 50 overs every Sunday rather than playing in April. A game televised every week.

I never said it was, but the point still stands.

You are in the minority, because everyone who knows anything about cricket knows what the problem is.

I’m not in the minority st all it’s a totally irrelevant point

It’s not being removed so shutting down any conversation about the schedule with “get rid of the 100” is just stupid and narrow minded as it’s not going to happen

We are in dangerous territory here for the game and just ignoring it is not the way to go

Good on them

Except it isn’t shutting down the conversation is it?

It’s the one solution that will improve County Cricket immediately.

The sooner FTECB admit that they’ve fucked up and appreciate they need to stop the bleeding, the better.

I’ve really warmed to Surrey lately.

A great bunch of lads  @TheRey

But its not going to happen! not in the next 5 years

so what is your solution in the mean time for the schedule?

thats the whole point of the discussion, by just being stubborn like you are we are in huge danger of inflicting even more damage

Why not? The problem that exists is because of the 16.4, so the only way to fix it is to get rid of the 16.4.

I’ve told you.

It isn’t being stubborn, it’s being right. The only stubbornness is by the likes of Strauss and the ECB for running away from the glaringly obvious problem.

The sooner they address the elephant in the room, the better for the future of cricket in this country.

 so literally you will have no other debate about schedule other than "get rid of the 100", aye thats a big help that like

they arent getting rid of it, so you need to find a way yourself to deal with that.

I didn’t say that. If you remember, you made a statement that “the schedule is too complex” and that you “don’t know what the answer is.”

I merely replied telling you exactly what the answer is:

BIN the tournament that nobody wanted, that’s haemorrhaging money and that excludes over 50% of the playing counties and their supporters from it.

everyone on this forum hates the 100, we all want rid, but its not going anywhere, so why keep repeating it every time someone makes a suggestion??

I just can't get my head around all of this as I've said earlier. Strauss wants us to be the best but wants to reduce the amount of red ball and T20 games and having already ruined the 50 over game which we are world champions at, they want to introduce minor counties teams starting in April I think it was in a knock out format so you could be finished in April? How is that in anyway "high performance", it's a load of shite.

The problem with that is you know which counties will go bankrupt first. Then they will pull up the draw bridge.

On a different note how about county cricketers declining to play in the 100 staying with their counties.
For your slightly above average county cricketer, getting a hundred contract is a huge pay day. The players, on the whole, love it.

It would be great if this sport paid enough so that players could go with their counties and take a stand, but the hundred simply pays too much.

aye the players want it like, thats the thing nobody wants to say on here

Players get well paid for their job. A county cricket contract pays a damn sight more than your average worker but they still want more rest. Imagine if a factory worker asked his/her boss for a rest. They'd end up getting a longer rest than they expected. A permanent one.

If cricketers are tired with too much cricket they should pack it in and try getting a job in the real world.

The players want the MONEY, not the format. Let’s just get that one down on record.

As has been said about 1,472,291 times, if they’d put as much time, money and effort into improving the Blast as they have the white elephant, there would be no need for this bullshit propaganda exercise from the public school prefect.

You don’t have to tell me this mate I totally agree

But that abuse of Strauss is totally embarassing and almost undermines everything you are saying

Be better than will you

He didn’t make the 100 you know
