Strange things in the sky

Just been in the back garden and noticed a big light in the sky. Looked like a vapour trail from a plain but it was lit up. Bit like a comet tail with glowing bits in.

Did anybody else see it or am I just tripping?

If it was towards the south east over the north sea yeah I saw it, I thought it was just a planet like Venus. Didn't see any vapour trails though.
