Since going up together on 2008 I’ve always had a grudging respect for you and see your time in the top flight as something we should have been able to achieve rather than the yo yo shit we’ve endured. Both reached cup finals and lost, both were looked down on I think by a lot of the PL establishment and the media. Certainly see a lot of similarities between your city and ours and the people that live there.

Game that sticks out that I hated? Well don’t have to look back too far for that!

Always had a grudging respect for the Pulis side although I do think they created a particular reputation which unfairly gets trotted out still.

Only been to Stoke once (few weeks ago) but thought the ground was tidy enough with a decent atmosphere. Would have liked to have gone during better days for both our clubs
 
1. Probably a rival back when both in the premier league as we’d like to think we should have achieved your league positions but not really much to say with being in different leagues as we can’t be shafted by some refereeing decisions, always remember a fan complaining about the cattermole handball who promptly went quiet when I reminded him of the Brown red card!
2. How pulis made most Of our supposed rejects into mid table premier league players and had a decent run in Europe
3. The 0:0s are easily forgettable, who can forget Delap breaking his leg against us, the 4:0 under Bruce that turned out to prove nothing, and the 0:1 in the snow was a good win in the circumstances and where we were in the table with our ‘rise’ under MON
4.not the worst set of home support by a long way but the 08/09 ‘loudest crowd’ has certainly gone with the previous comfort of mid table and the drop with relegation
5. can only speak on 4 visits to the Brit/365, no wins to speak of for me,highlight being the Defoe penalty. a decent ground But Not played you since filling in that corner so not sure if that’s made a difference but give a decent allocation even if it’s a bit funny getting out

Don't know why fans of other clubs ask questions like this I imagine most fans of most clubs don't give a toss about opposition teams and fans
When I go to a game I never give it a thought I'm only interested in what happens on the pitch
 
  1. Why would we be rivals? I've no thoughts really, although there's a bit of trivia that you were the first team to be effectively "relegated" from the football league and we replaced you.
  2. The side that had a significant number of our former players and seemed to get a lot more out of them.
  3. Mark Pugh getting away with a blatant handball on the line which denied Steed Malbranque what would have been his only league goal at home -- edit apparently that wasn't Stoke? I would have been sure that it was. Edit again -- yeah it was Stoke, Danny Pugh not Mark.
  4. No recollection, sorry.
  5. I've never been anywhere near Stoke.

Always have seen Stoke as a top flight team. The first 10 seasons I watched us Stoke were comfortably mid table and were one of half a dozen clubs who could have won the title in 1975. On their day with Hudson Banks Salmons Conroy and Greenhoff they could take anyone apart. In Tony Waddington they had a genius of a manager who signed players past their best and give them a new lease of life. Look up the FA cup semi finals of 71 and 72. In that era Stoke were probably the unluckiest and most talented team not to reach the final. Arsenal beat them twice.

Other than a couple of lads I've worked with in the past who were both good blokes, they've never really been on my radar tbh.

Stoke are fine, obviously not a rival, bit of a non entity but so are most clubs so I don't mean that to sound offensive, spurs are a non entity as far as I'm concerned ; was pathetic when our (on both sides) Internet fans tried making a "rivalry" out of it.

No Stoke teams have really made an impact on me if I'm honest

All our games tend to be shit, wish that wasn't the case, but they do

Decent support to be fair, better than many, one of several with a decent enough set of fans

Never went to the old ground, new one pretty much like all the others

I imagine many stoke fans would say similar about us, we're just two clubs that have been in similar orbits over the last decade or so
 
I went to a midweek game at Stoke in the mid nineties to see us get beat when I was working near Derby and we won the league. Away at Watford as well where we drew after being 3 1 up. In fact never seen us beat Stoke and went to see Watford when it was postponed due to fog at Roker. We will be as big as Stoke or Watford if we can be in the same league as them. Meanwhile only 30000 will turn up in league 1 to watch us get worse until only 20000 turn up and SD will be railroaded out before reality sets in and then we will sink or swim.
