Steve Howey

Hardly a 'spell' of the game though is it, 45 minutes. He makes it sounds like it was 10 minutes. The score was a reflection of how good Barcelona were. Blowing smoke up the skunks arse, standard mag behaviour.
That's just it, though. They're not that good, at least by Barca standards and admission from their own fans.

I thought howey was a Sunderland fan despite the link to mags
He used to go to our games but not sure in what capacity. Used to see his car, probably around the Bruce/O'Neill era. Unless it was sky duties?
Went to school with him - was never a big Sunderland fan unlike his dad and brother
Probably because he played for them at an early age. Understandable really, I know of a few bairns, Sunderland born and bred but they play in their academy and support them. One of them was in tears at the recent derby at their place, while the dar was owa the moon, must be difficult

Like Rigg, I imagine, but in reverse.

Lee is a Sunderland fan. I worked on his old house down Castle Eden well after his playing days where he told me he's Sunderland.

He's also corrected a reporter live on Talksport when he was introduced as a Newcastle fan.

Obviously Lee is. Sunderland lad, played for us. Dad a huge Sunderland fan. Steve probably was as a boy but signed for then (after an unsuccessful trial at Sunderland iirc).

I'm sure I've heard Steve say he was a Sunderland fan on sky during his Man City days though.

Its a bit like Gabberdini he clearly prefers York and Derby over us but is quite happy to feign allegiance to us and get his coin!Personally i think steve gets more money as a pundit with a Newcastle bent and keeps his natural safc affiliation on the down low.

Good story from him I heard once that he heard someone singing the Lee Howey song about him in the supermarket and when he looked down the next aisle it was his mam.
He says this definitely happened. I like what his Lee said to him when they had dinner at his ma’s about the up and coming derby! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
