Steve Howey

Mags were better side in the first game...even first half in the first leg and got battered in 2nd half.

Would you rather go toe to toe with big teams and get humped or play compact, be hard to beat and nick points.

It's a good one to think about regarding our own manager and the brand of football he plays.
Have you seen the film 'White men can't jump?' Has Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrison in it about basketball?

Central premise of the film iirc is Wesley Snipes character would rather look good and lose than Woody. Who would rather look bad and win.

Can't remember what happens in the end. They both lose, I guess.

Balance lies somewhere in between.

Maybe when Steve played for them supporting his son.

He tried to rip his brother off (who had had a hell of a lot less cash than him out of football) when selling him a house. Seems like a total nob but I've never had any dealings with him. Met Lee a couple of times and he's just like his Dad, spot on.
You've met them a couple of times so you barely know them then.
I went to school with both.
Worked with Steve's wife as well and know all the family.
Was at their daughter's christening surrounded by mag players (in Sunderland)
The stories about Steve Howey on here are exaggerated because he played for the mags.

On the podcast I saw Howey said it happened in Durham.
It's two different stories, both pretty funny. I don't mind him at all on the radio, he doesn't mind sending himself up and is good crack with the others on Total Sport. He's not afraid to say what he thinks either which is quite refreshing these days, I remember he called Micky Adams "a horrible little man" when asked about his time at Leicester 😄

I haven't ever met Steven Howey but I've read Lee's book and draw my conclusions on his brother from that.

I've met Yvonne and Norman loads of times and Lee a couple of times.

Still a ****.

On Talkshite now, with Mucky Gray.

‘The Barcelona score was misrepresented a bit, Newcastle matched Barca bar a spell of the game’

Is he off his nut?
The skunks matched them for the first half TBF ( which they wud never be with us - doesn't mean we have to sink to their level) but once Barca's manager got stuck in to his players at h/t, it was outright humiliation second half.

For the record from Lee's book, Steve was selling his house and it had been on the market for a while. He dropped the price at estate agent say £5K (can't remember the exact figures) and Lee decided he was interested in buying it. He asked Steve for the price and he gave him the original price! A bit later Lee found out that instead of offering him mate's rates (well brothers rates) he was trying to fleece him for £5K!

That's one of the reasons they don't talk anymore.
