Staff Redundancies at SAFC

Reading Bain's comments he is critical of the recent past and those running the club. 'lost its focus' for fuck sake. Suppose that what happen when you employ amateurs to run a business.

I work with a lad presently who is mates with one of the lads on the books at Preston. He was telling me this morning that he had been speaking to his mate yesterday who said Jordan Pickford's snap chat had been full of the team f***ing hammered all the time they were in New York. It's f***ing dog shite that as shit as they are they are still luxury holidays like this.
Fks sake.

And not one of us will even be surprised by this.

That's the sad thing.

A little story from a few weeks back. A premier league team came into where I work. They all (after the match the whole team)had a drink. One player. Well known, will be a multi millionaire for sure asked one of the staff if she could do another round of drinks but sign it off as extras (laundry for example) so it went on the club bill. Fair enough, maybe they were told one drink only but obviously wanted and would have had more. I thought the greedy f***ing twat. Put your hand in your pocket. .........those players won't give a flying fuck about people losing jobs most of which will probably be on 15,20,25 k.

It's the same all over and has been for quite some time. I'd imagine when the wages soared through SKY etc.
The sooner a lot of people have the realisation that ( the vast majority of ) players care not one iota about us fans, the easier it is in turn to think fuck em.
Newcastle were the same under first relegation when about 100 odd staff got paid off. Did Ashley or players care ? the majority didn't give a monkeys, they were off to Dubai, Vegas or Barbados, not the dole que. Exactly same happening at Sunderland.
Said it for years now but it's staggering how many still turn up despite constantly being shit on time and time again.
Despite us fans spending thousands and all the hassle that goes with it. You'll never be appreciated. Fuck em.

Surely the people that will lose their jobs in the grand scheme of running a football are not going to save the club that much money? Its not going to be the multi millionaire footballers going, so surely the wages recouped isnt going to make much a diff? Seems like shitting on the little man for little return.
I can't disagree with you.
Yes have a round of VR, look to redeployment where possible and don't replace people when they leave for pastures new but in an area like the northeast compulsory redundancy should be the last possible resort.

I think the point I was trying to make was that instead of getting rid of 20 local jobs why not get rid of 1 fringe player at 30k per week giving you a total saving of £1,560,000 instead
Because it's really hard to sell fringe players. Just think how long it took to get rid of Danny Graham. And as for Will Buckley - he'll be back in the summer!

Deserves a seperate thread this one.

Another PR disaster for our club off to NY come back and announce redundancies what about this shower of shite providing financial support for these people they are the f ckers who have created this the exception being JD.

Its just the club preparing for relegation. We are going down so we should be looking to cut costs as much as we can. We think its bad now but we are in for years of real misery in my opinion. We will look back in five years time and class these as the good times

Feel the same unfortunately. Hopefully wrong

A weeks wages from each player would save how many staff jobs for a year?

Somehow I struggle to buy into why it's the people who are barely scraping by on probably little more than a living wage who must bare the brunt of the clubs perilous £140 million debt.

I reckon there are no jobs to save. This sounds like it's about restructuring just as much as cost savings.

NYC was and still is a bizarre choice IMO.
What it shows for me is Moyes & Bain don't understand how this equates into how the club and its management are viewed.Short needs to be honest with the fans but we all know he is just another owner who says one thing and does the opposite.

In all honesty, that's more down to culture than it is the players. They are in an industry where they are paid ridiculous sums of money (it's the clubs who are willing to chuck money at them), they take liberties like your example without any form of discipline or rules as to what they are allowed to put on the company bill.

Unfortunately, this industry - the power lies with the players as they drive the company performance - so the company has to keep it's performers happy. It's f***ing shite.

I think the players would eventually give a fuck if it then went onto impact them. i.e. sacking the drinks man who gives them their drinks - they'd have to go and pick one up themselves

I really don't see what the link is between this and the New York trip. Every single member of staff was also taken on a team building day last month.
To NY? I dont think they will have has a quarter of the money that the club spent on the players on them plus they wont be paid a fraction of theses pathetic excuse they call themselves professional footballers.

I hope the staff in the ticket office aren't affected.
Despite always seemingly very busy, I nevertheless find them to be a very helpful and courteous set of people.
