Completely agree.

However what we’ve been guilty of is that as soon as the first rough patch hits we unequivocally decide it’s the wrong person in the role and take drastic action.

Genuine question - how many iterations (ie sporting director / managers combo ) before we decide it that success isn’t instant?

Personally I feel better about the current structure than I have in years in terms of how we’ve been run, so despite the criticisms (which a few are deserved) I want it to continue.
I like the structure, I’m just not convinced by the personnel. I guess that’s always going to be the case especially at this level and only time will tell.
Problem is that time is much less helpful at this level, if we don’t go up this year we probably lose 10-15 players again.

I’ve criticised Speakman on here before and got pelters. I don’t buy into his long winded waffle. He was employed as a puppet to the owners, IMO.
It all sounds great doesn’t it ? But is it ?

Will cost us thousands of fans another season in this league. I have no doubt.
Totally agree mate. Will applaud the club when they do good. I have nothing good to say about them at this moment in time so will say nothing about:
  • The pitch
  • The sacking and its timing
  • The glaring deficiencies in the squad and the constant failure to address them.
  • What impact another year of failure will have on the fanbase
  • How they expect to plan next year, after failure, to rebuild yet again.
  • How they expect to win the hearts and minds of fans whose resolve has been tested to the limit.

Bring in

I think keane would put a few tweaks in and we will be rolling again..bring another plodder in like some of the names mentioned and speakman will lose the crowds permanently. Whole place needs a lift and I think hiring keane would do the trick..let's hope he dosnt give them planks on sideline today much longer
Spot on.

6-0 last week against a team in the bottom half and we use the same players and tactics.

Dodds and Proctor = Dumb and Dumber.

Speakmen brought these new players in during this window. By default it doesnt bode well if they cant get into a team thats just been humped 6-0.
Over react? We've just witnessed back to back quite arguably the worst two league performances in the clubs entire history. We look fuck all like winning promotion and more likely spending a fifth season in league f***ing one.
Some will clap this club to the Northern League Im sure.

Have we?
The two best signings were reportedly down to Johnson, Stewart and Pritchard. The rest might have some talent but have largely been pretty average.
That is being kind. Goalkeeper is poor, Cirkin at left back is slow and cannot tackle, Broadhead is always injured, Huggins is also a sick note and Evans only plays a third of the games.

Unfortunately you’re probably right, clinging on to the hope of some long term master plan
Think you're pinning way too much hope on some over promoted know nowts. We have a very poor goal keeper, no defenders worthy of the name, no leaders anywhere on the field, no midfield enforcer, 400 wingers and 1.5 strikers. Speakman, Johnson and those three burks today might all talk a good game but we look nothing like a side that will go and win promotion.

If its true what Craig hope said about players asking what happened to the long term.project when LJ went... it sums then up. Complete bottlers who use 'long term project' as a get out for failure now

Are you for real.

Two pathetic performances with 6,000 travelling fans and nigh on 40,000 there today. Humped 6-0 and we pick the same players and tactics.

We have a groundsman who has produced quite frankly a disgraceful pitch and he and his staff cant be arsed to pick litter.

With all due respect, apart from our fantastic support, we are a fking shambles of a club.
This passing it out from the back is a joke. We can’t do it! I feel sorry for Doyle as he is dropped in it every time - ends up hoofing it and the crowd start moaning. Can’t anyone see it’s not working??

Re the state of the pitch and the litter blowing about - how long would it take them to pick the litter up?

Wonder what will become of the 'plan' if we don't get promoted, the squad gets cherry picked and we have to rebuild from scratch yet again in this shit league. Add into the 'plan' fans' patience becoming very thin. Massive turnout today. The club failed them yet again.
At a talk in, he was very bullish about the 'project' and was asking fans to be patient.

We average 30,000 crowds, despite the four consecutive seasons, playing in the 3rd tier of English football, and have won just ONE major domestic honour, in nearly 50 years, which for a club the size and stature of SAFC, indicates that us fans have already been incredibly patient, tolerant, and accepting of utter dross, for far too long, imo.

It's high time Speakman fucked off.

Madness isnt it? We never learn.

Johnson was bad but we had Dumb and Dumber's tactics today.

Madness.

If he can't get Sunderland out of this league he might want to consider finding a new sport.

No because it is just talk and nothing more. Snake oil salesmen the likes of Dodd and Speakman. Johnson alas in the same category

Being in this league is failure in my book. Sunderland being this poor in this league is something I find very difficult to stomach. What I find more difficult to stomach, is some idiot spraffing on about taking time, whilst Rome/the season dissolves around him. f***ing unbelievable.
