Pretty sure everyone was in agreement that we should have a list of potential replacements for coaches at all times. That is a basic requirement of this set up.

Apparently not.
didn't he say he did only two days ago??
I m baffled like.
has he done two interviews with Frankie? If so why?

Forgetting who should and shouldnt get the job, which at this stage is blindingly obvious from the names listed.

Isn't having, at any point in time, a number of potential head coaches in mind exactly the sort of thing a 'Director of Football' is meant to be doing? Basically the shortlist is like something Donald and Methven would have put together - a list of names of people who are available because they have been sacked by other clubs in League One or the Championship, plus Roy Keane. And this is the man who thought Lee Johnson would be a good fit here.

Shouldn't he have been finding the next Neil Critchley or Liam Manning? Isn't that his job?
Absolutely this. My own desperation for Keane to come back is only partly down to the nostalgia factor. The other part of it is seeing how dreadful and unimaginitive the rest of the mooted 'shortlist' is. If you're going to go for a lower profile manager, go and get someone with some USP to get optimistic about, not some plodder with a bang average record who's not rated by fans of smaller clubs than ours.

Im not sure what he said, he says a fair few things that don't appear to tally, to be honest.

If anything, it appeared to me that he was there specifically to state it wasn't as close with Keane as we imagined it was after his appearance on TV last night.

Get shot of him. I had confidence in him till this week. They were right to sack Johnson but it had been coming, so not having a plan in place to replace him is poor.

Add to that the fact he put those three idiots in charge of today’s game, and seems to have issues with Keane because he’ll want his own team and more control than Speakman will be comfortable with.

It’s one or the other for me and I’d have Roy any day. But if Speakman is staying then Roy isnt the right man.

Your choice Kyril.

I’ve been droning on about this on here for ower 15yrs marra.
Someone who has nowt to do with anyone involved and nivver sets foot in the SOL or AOL should be sitting infront of a screen crunching numbers and win %s and ppg and transfer profits and transfer fees and everything vaguely relevant about every manager, head coach, DOF, academy head, club etc in pro football all ower the world so that at any point in time one button needs to be pressed and we have an instant shortlist for it.
Who dofs the DOF etc?
See also: Jonah Hill, Moneyball, marra. It's hardly groundbreaking stuff, is it? Eeh, why yanar missus....

Speakman appears to speak well but his process seems to get in the way! I know there's a lot to do to get the club into shape but first team has to be priority. There's no way he's going to meet his short term goal this season. If delaying the coach appointment and failure to replace Flannagan result in another season in league one then his position should be under scrutiny.

Exactly this like. Its absolutely pathetic that they havnt had any plans in place in case johnson got sacked, i really thought they would have

This seasons gone for me so i would like a longterm manager in place ready to go for next season, like one of them you mentioned

Seems to have been missed by a few posters with it being so close to kick off. Worth a post.

I couldn’t believe this

Automatics gone

Why was Johnson sacked with no clear idea

16 games left

Fuckin amateurish people pretending to be smart

Why was Lee Johnson sacked if not ?

Why did he think Mike fuckin dodds would be a better manager for this game

You’re absolutely spot on mate
What the fuck has he been doing for the past week like?

Holy shit man. 17 games left (now 16) and they are taking the f***ing piss.

I doubt a manager in for Tuesday now

So just 15 games left

It’s just amateurish

Big question mark over Speakman. Left the club with no defenders.

I wanted Keane appointed at the very earliest opportunity anyway with so little time left to sort this shit show out. Had I known our backroom staff were so spineless and incompetent I'd have been even more desperate to get the new manager in.

I just don’t understand that decision

We don’t have enough defenders it’s a fast not an opinion

I’m not blaming the staff like

This is KS fault

The Johnson sacking only only made sense if we had someone appointed Monday

For a short term impact

It’s almost already too late

I know it’s just 1 game but we genuinely have no chance at automatics now

They've been caught with their pants down with regards to this appointment mind.

Absolutely bonkers that the successor wasn't all but signed before pulling the trigger.

They'll claim it's integrity in terms of not doing the above but in reality it's naivety in the extreme..
