Speakman

people are going a bit crazy. What next? "Why didn't Speakman pick himself and score a hat trick n his debut? "
He should have taken charge today and taken responsibility, not hand over to two coaches who crapped it and virtually put the same team out. I’m no fan of LJ but I believe he would have made numerous changes.

His interview today indicated that the manager search is far from complete, but as KLD stated it was a combination of things that led to the sacking so Speakman needs to have a very definite idea of who he’s bringing in.

I think his recruitment strategy is utter shite in the short term and is a total contradiction of the target of automatic promotion.

Its a team for next season not this.

Bragging about our calm and professional approach to interviewing candidates for the headcoach role on the pre match coverage. They thought today was a free hit against bottom of the league. He needs to take some responsibility here too. Letting our best defender (regardless of your opinion on Flanagan, it’s true) go when we’re already shipping goals for fun was a disaster, and no fan-appeasing signing of Defoe is going to paper over those cracks
Also, really put a spotlight on the muppets who took the side today as well. Terrifying that they’re coaching the U23s.
Of course the players need to shoulder majority of the blame today but they really weren’t helped by how they were setup.
Or and his did he make the decision to play on with a depleted squad due to covid?
Having Doyle and Batth as our only fit centre backs is terrifying. They can’t defend straight balls over the top.

Sacking LJ and letting Flanagan go is proving to be the worst mistake we’ll make. We’ve ripped up a plan and are becoming sentiment FC. We’ve descended into a shambles.

Oh and who the fuck is Mike Dodds. Big problems ahead.

What was your pre game prediction?

For fucks sake. Some threads on here!

He had to come out and calm down the Keane frenzy. He’s generally brought in decent players. you can’t fault the entire club structure for taking a bit of time to consider managerial options albeit I think it was crazy to get rid at the time we did. He also didn’t manage and pick the team today, contrary to what a lot of daft fuckers on this thread think!

Wasn't his fault the caretaker boss decided to not start a single new signing and go with a team that got thumped 6-0 the previous week tbf to him.

In his interview on Rad Newcastle before the game, he said they needed to take time to consider the new appointment and possibly not announced until late next week. He said they’ve been looking at managers for a while who fit their philosophy 😂😂😂. He’s another idiot.

transitioning to younger players with likely resale value. We may not be where we want to be, but instead of a squad full of plodders who are mid-to-late 20s on high wages and who've peaked in L1, at least the majority of the squad will be on lower wages with more likelihood of interest/higher value if & when we sell them.
Of course we already had a system producing young players of our own, we were just actively looking to sell them on before they reached the first team.

flanagan was not in the top 3 defenders at the club..

Agreed. KLD needs to show he’s got the minerals to make the big decisions. Getting a bloke to run the entire recruitment for the club when he wasn’t even that highly regarded at Birmingham ffs. We’re a shambles of a club lurching from one shite decision to another and Speakman is at the heart of all of them.

If we don’t go up this season KLD needs to have a long hard look at who he is trusting to run the club
