Speakman gone

I reckon he’s definitely been shoved out which is a shame but was always on the cards when we appointed Ghosolfi. These things happen at Board level.

He has done an incredible job that can’t be understated. Took us from the lowest point in our history to our current set up where it really feels like anything is possible. Won’t be short of good job offers I’m sure.

Well I would have expected an announcement he was leaving perhaps at the end of the season or going to another job.

Won’t be unemployed for long.

Tbh, with Ghisolfi's contacts in the game, it does feel like a natural progression. The club has to make ruthless moves both on and off the field in order to progress.

I wish the fella well, he's done some great things overall at the club and I'm sure someone will pick him up in no time. A few Championship/lower level PL clubs could do a lot worse.

I was about to post that I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back there as the Yank owners have hoyed money at it but not really improved their Championship position too much from prior to the Rooney fiasco.
I’m sure plenty will have looked at what he brought in here for not much money.

Given the rest of the statement is glowing about his professionalism and things I doubt it. More likely (but less exciting), the club want to continue with just Ghisolfi (who will be given a wider remit) and have agreed a pay off with speakman. Not like he's going to be doing any work planning for the summer if he's not going to be here, so I guess there's not much for him to do. Normally there'd be gardening leave or something, which might be the case, so he still leaves the club straight away. Either way he'll have got a good, and well deserved, pay off but there probably wasn't any benefit in keeping him in the building until the end of the season or anything
 
Played a big part in us getting from league one to the Premier league. Not always been a smooth ride but can't deny the job he has done. Not too surprised by the news, we're moving the club on to something bigger now.
