Southgate on Henderson

He understands exactly why he’s getting booed.
Think he was too dim to realise what was going to happen?

Either way he's been humiliated here and there's no come back now.

He's too old to play his way out of the hole he's dug with consistently great performances or even a trophy. And no one is listening to anything he says

It’s a bit weird when you think about it. Southgate had already started to drop him and froth over a pairing of Rice and Phillips. Then we have Bellingham. JWP gets ignored when he is capable to play, especially in fixtures like tonight.

Why Southgate has selected Henderson after he “quit” competitive football and double downed on him, is anyone’s guess.

Weird, as I said. Or 💰

Thing is though. Had he moved to us, he’d have been dropped from the International side who own the Premier League. Saudi Arabia and his 9000 fans is and will always be, good enough standard for Gareth to pick him.

100% on the last point. Particularly if he’d have came down to us.

Seems like he would deliberately play the likes of Henderson Maguire Philips just to prove he can piss off the fans

The Maguire booing is ridiculous and unfair

Captain hypocrite Henderson however gets all he deserves. Banging on about caps, got nothing to do with it and he knows fine well why

They’ll think twice now with they’re whole PR bollocks
It does make me wonder whether Southgate would've picked him if he somehow ended up at Sunderland this season.
This

I can guarantee he wouldn’t

It's very, very obvious why he was booed. If Henderson had moved to Brighton or Palace or Forest or Sunderland, he wouldn't be getting booed but he chose money over morals.

On the other hand, I doubt that having a player who plays his club football in Saudi is an issue for Brazil, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, Scotland etc.
I don't think the manager and once captain of any of those national teams have ever sought to raise their profile by appearing righteous and principled.

While we’re on about England Captain’s being shameless and thinking about something other than football. It’s rather nuts how much hate Beckham has received over his career to a few boos for Henderson.

Respect Gareth for giving the fans this opportunity.

Henderson or Southgate?

I don’t think Henderson expected to be booed, no. You’d have thought people around him would have filled him in with the details if he’s not bright enough to work them out for himself. Then again he might be surrounded by people who think they’ll get a slice of the pie.

I think Southgate just has his favourites and possibly a bit of personal loyalty, which will run out pretty quickly. It’s also kind of his job to protect the players as best he can. He might just hope it blows over, but this one isn’t going to entirely, unless Henderson does a complete U-turn.

Henderson I meant aye

Were there any mags playing and did they get booed
Sid James’s is now a sawdi protectorate so same should apply
Trippier played.

Problem is most “football fans” only watch tv and see the tv stations completely ignoring the fact that Middle East oil money from questionable regimes owns the clubs.

Especially when you see the overweight daft bastards bigging it up in the crowd shots on tv

Henderson has never really been a fan favourite for England, but it’s interesting that he’s getting stick because of his move to Saudi.

The mags would have you believe it’s only bitter Sunderland fans that have an issue with Saudi Arabia, but it looks like the whole country does. Granted it’s maybe more to do with Henderson being a hypocrite but it shows there’s a universal understanding of what SA stands for.

From the man who portrayed himself as the most virtuous person in the country not long back.

He's a bit of a cretin isn't he.
I can't why Jordan Henderson - a 33 year old taking blood money from sportswashing tyrants, and playing in a substandard, retirement home of a league, was ever starting the game in order to be booed at all?

What on earth is there to gain by playing him? He's got 79 caps. It's a friendly. What is the point in starting someone like that in a game where you could experiment and play different players, perhaps (crazy I know) players who a) haven't retired the Russell Foster desert division, b) have actually played club football since the advent of colour television.

There's also the political situation. We've had 700 seasons of bending the knee, rainbow laces (when it suits!), 'I stand with Ukraine' etc and tonight all imagery of either Israel or Palestine (no colours, no flags etc) were permitted, for fear of upsetting anyone. Meanwhile, the England captain on the night, is a hypocritical, sportswashed shill for Saudi Arabia, whose leadership refuse to condemn Hamas...

I have always thought Southgate has done relatively more than ok for England

why doesn’t he seek to understand why Henderson is now being boo’ed rather than simply say it’s unfair. ( unless he knows and is playing dumb)
