Southgate on Henderson

I think new managers bring in a clean broom with them. Southgate clearly trusts Henderson and has a long standing relationship with him. Southgate’s successor will do the same.

Absolutely nothing at all to do with ‘chasing money’. The vast majority of players move for more money and fans universally accept this.

It’s Hendersons astonishing bare faced hypocrisy that has annoyed people and understandably so.

I’m not arguing.
I’m just stating the fact that Henderson is clearly a huge influence in the squad and has shown great leadership qualities throughout his career.
You’re saying I’m wrong but now refusing to explain why.

Absolutely chasing £ notes is very acceptable
Creating security for ourselves and family is a fundamental right for everyone.
Just don’t state one thing then change sides when the money comes calling THEN expect people to respect you the way they used to.

He had it all in terms of money and respect, he’s chucked the respect in the bin, in search of more coin he probably didn’t even need.

His choice and Gareth knows he has to drop him now for everyone’s sake including the winning capabilities of the team, but he will be selected because Gareth wants to make a statement.

Henderson should be nowhere near the England squad playing in a football league run by a country responsible for one of the worst human rights record in the world, never mind that the standard of the league is semi professional at best.But of course you know that and as a sad mag you are coming on here looking for bites. Another one of the unwashed on ignore.

Authenticity.
Leading by example.
Consistency and clarity of message.
Trust.

Henderson is completely lacking in key leadership qualities. The man will say whatever is in is own interest to the detriment of others. He is a charlatan, a snake oil salesman, a hypocrite. I've never been so disappointed and let down by a public figure in my entire life. I couldn't look at him, nevermind be led by him.

So just Henderson for England, or does that apply to say Ronaldo and Portugal also ?

But if the manager and his teammates, who are in a larger capacity to think the opposite believe he still has an important part to play disagree with you then that’s their call to make.
For example, Bellingham, the greatest talent we’ve produced in a long time speaks openly about Henderson’s positive impact on his self and the squad, will hold more weight than a disgruntled Sunderland fan, will it not ?

Well yeah, I can only give my own opinion. I don't speak for the England Team. This is a message board where people generally their own personal opinions. None of us best say anything then, eh?

My disgruntlement with Henderson isn't particularly associated with me being a Sunderland fan by the way (although it maybe hurts a bit more that one of our own could act so abominably).

Was a bit hypocritical of the crowd to boo Henderson but then cheer Trippier when he came on. Both taking the Saudi dosh in different ways.
Henderson shouldn’t be in the squad because he plays in a pub league. No other reason.

My opinion is that whilst his international playing days are coming to an end, and undoubtedly accelerated due to playing in a sub standard league, for this current time he’s being included in the squad for the experience and leadership qualities he brings, especially to the young talent we now have.
I just happen to think that my opinion is also the same current opinion of Southgate.

Personally I think he’ll remain in the squad for now then miss out on the tournament squad, wether the manager does or doesn’t do this remains to be seen.
