Southampton spying compendium thread

I'm going to try and find out if we're entitled to refunds if it gets moved before I buy any tickets. If not, or I can't find anything out, I won't bother.

I’m sorry mate but I don’t agree with that. Southampton cheat Boro so Hull should get a free ride into the premier league= plain daft.

Your first point maybe has some validity. Although to exaggerate the point to make it, if Sunderland were due to play PSG in a tournament, and then found out we were playing Wolves instead, would that be considered a hindrance?

No.
Southampton should be expelled due to cheating and the reason I think Hull should get a free pass is because Boro were unable to progress after getting beat my Southampton. Had Boro refused to play the matches against Southampton by disputing the legitimacy then fair enough. But they didn't. They had their chance and blew it. Why should they get giving a second chance? Because I doubt they'd be complaining about the spygate had they progressed.

Of course it's a hindrance because how you set up against PSG would be a hell of a lot different to setting up against Wolves. Against Southampton I can imagine Hull's primary goal would be to counter attack. Perhaps they were planning on target X position. Now not knowing which team they'll play is going to impact how they set up and which areas they'll target as weaklings. How can it not be a hindrance?

One bonus for Boro if reinstated ànd date is kicked back would be Hayden Hackney possibly being fit ?-extra time for him could be crucial
Again fair on Hull ?
Obviously I can't really answer that.
Hackney's a good player so I'm pretty sure Boro would always want him to be available.
Suppose if we were to be allowed into the final and the EFL stipulated that we could only use the same available players from Southampton then we couldn't really argue - but then surely Hull then shouldn't be allowed to pick somebody who was injured for their semi and not fit for the original final date.
All hypothetical I know.

The thing is if the EFL just fine them, any club following could go 'meh it's only a fine it's worth trying to risk it'
Needs to be shown an example of, but with a week or so of the final it's tricky for the efl

Make it a big fine. No guarantees that Southampton beat Hull. Haven’t Hull already beaten them twice? We already know Southampton beat Boro
What?
They spied on your training sessions for the play offs in 1977 - ten years before they existed?
Great comedy value this. Thank goodness Boro train in an open field next to public land eh? 😂

They need to let the playoff go ahead as they did at the Swindon v Sunderland promotion playoff at Wembley many years ago. ( I was there ) and we lost to Swindon but I remember as we boarded the Coaches back to Sunderland we had a TAX INSPECTORs Sign in the bus window while passing the nearby Swindon coaches.

Everybody knew what we were on about as it was public knowledge. Swindon were denied promotion . Sunderland went up.

The best bit though was that the Mags finished above Sunderland that season but didnt make the final so Sunderland got promoted..
A big difference with that scenario is that Boro are the direct victims of the cheating. I think it would be harsh on them if Hull got promoted without a final (vs Boro).

I imagine Southampton will get the boot as long as the EFL are satisfied they won't get sued by them.

Won in extra time after playing over 200mins of football.
Small margins. The spying probably got them over the line
Definitely the spy and not boro missing chance after chance in the first leg or the defender ducking out of the cross that went into the net for the winner.

Definitely the young lad in his fathas jeans to blame...

You’re taking the defeat well I see, no surprises there.
Always honest in my judgements.
If we're beaten fairly then yep, fair enough I say so.
But, Southampton broke the rules and in my opinion should pay the consequence for that, otherwise it just becomes a free for all for anyone that decides to cheat.
Obviously, as a Boro fan I'd prefer it for us to take their place in the final, seeing as we were the ones cheated against, but the main thing in my opinion is that cheats don't get rewarded for it - so if Southampton get disqualified and Hull get promoted without playing the final, whilst personally i'd be 'disappointed' , it would still be preferable to Southampton getting away with it.
No they screwed us over, but like I said we don’t mention it.
You just have - twice
