Southampton spying compendium thread

Will admit having read this thread that I'm impressed with the majority here * especially against a huge local rival ;) * in saying that the only possible penalty is for Southampton to be kicked out. How can it not be. How many times do you see a well worked corner routine etc. that results in a goal. Multiply that by the entire training session and you may be able to nullify everything we've worked on. Even if we don't get to go to Wembley, just promote Hull. Southampton are disgusting cheats and have clearly been at it throughout their "great run".

Well aye obviously but you can still analyse the tits off an opponent and still lose.
Especially if the opponent was George Best. Worse than the so called 'spygate' and something that is now commonplace is the constant cheating by players, not just to 'win' penalties but to 'win' free kicks. I thought VAR would stamp this out. The antics at corner kicks can be stopped immediately if referees dished out red cards, let alone yellows. But no.

I honestly think it's a storm in a tea cup. Who f***ing cares? What exactly are you gaining? 0.5%, less?

Oh the mighty Boro are going to use this shape and line up. And? It will be pretty much the same as the last time they played.

Bottom line is Southampton as a recently relegated side have better players than Boro therefore should win. That's what has happened.
So you would be ok with it if it was us ?

It's marginal. I honestly don't know why Leeds and Southampton bothered. They are gaining next to nothing out of it. Weird.
The training that was spied on was Boro's final session before the first leg. If the spying went undetected then Tonda (who is a football freak data analyst) would have known: Boro's line up, formation, game plan, attacking set pieces, defensive set pieces, penalty taker/s and preferred sides, etc etc. That's a massive advantage for a "coach" like Eckert. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out they've been at it since their form went from relegation battle to totally unplayable.

But it did get detected and its impact was therefore limited.

Totally disagree. It's a very marginal advantage. It's more important how your team play rather than the opposition.

A manager being anal thinking he's gaining some sort of advantage doesn't mean he's actually getting an advantage. Did the spying lead to a cross creeping into the goal to win the game? Did it fuck.

It is like ,
Southampton will get a fine,

Mind theyve had a remarkable turnaround since this manager came in ,
Makes you think 🤔
Surely if they are promoted they can’t just fine them? If they get to the premier league it’s worth something like £250 million! Thats no deterrent whatsoever and every club could/will be chancing it. It has to be more than a fine to put off other clubs from trying it.
