Southampton spying compendium thread

My bet is. Huge fine. Either if they win or not.

Future rules to be changed, if caught spying you forfeit your next game, including playoff games etc.

They’ve probably thought after Leeds it wouldn’t happen again. Now it has it needs properly looking at being a punishment harsh enough for it to stop it.
The current rules, one of which Southampton have been charged with, make provision for the FL expelling the offending club from the competition. I.E. being kicked out of the football league entirely.

Where does it state that? I've been trying to find it with no success

Classic Boro, the ultimate curtain twitchers. Remember they were trying to get Bolton and Derby docked points.

Mutant headed police informers.
TBF to Boro, they've been on the other end of it so probably feel they've a right to make sure they aren't cheated themselves.

Mentions possibly awarding boro a 3-0 forfeit win for first leg. You can't do that retrospectively after tonight as it changes the entire dynamic of the 2nd leg.

Absolute farce
Wonder what all the other clubs will get if they’ve also been cheated by Soton

They were cheating to gain an advantage in a situation which has a consequence of £100ms. The sanction has to reflect that. Expulsion is the only sanction. How is that a low?
Agree. Its cheating simple as that! And that's even though it's our Teesside dwelling, hills have eyes 'neighbours', I'd say the same if it was any other club too.

It appears fairly certain that the reason for their huge upturn in performance is also going to be found to be linked to similar dark arts imho, even Stevie Wonder can see it.

The fact they've denied involvement beyond claiming the 'lone wolf' defence and asked for extensions to them responding should garner heavier sanction/s.

Personally think that the punishment should be they're made to forfeit their play off place. If its found they've been at it during the season too then a heavy points deduction or even relegation to L1 or 2 should be considered, to act as a future deterrent. Even a £5 or 10m fine is chicken feed compared to the potential rewards.

Anyone complaining about Gibson being litigious needs to remember that Wrexham have been there or about in the play off running most of the season. Two Hollywood ones would make Stevo look reasonable if it comes to court actions. Love a day in court the Shermans.

Baffled and tonight is just devalued but will watch out of morbid curiosity to see what plays out

So a lone wolf intern spied on multiple clubs and until last week Southampton assmued he/she was a genius analyst?

If that's their defence it's going to be interesting as to how they thought the genius analyst managed to "guess" things like:
Injuries
First 11
Line up on the pitch
How they set up
Predicting set piece routines depending upon where each free kick was taken from
Penalty takers

Along with what the coaches were having for tea that night.

With such exactness.

Got a feeling their manager gets poached regardless me

Got a feeling their "clairvoyant analyst" gets poached too if he could "guess" whatever he was putting in his reports.

No-one I knew had heard anything about this until some time after the play off final and I don’t recall any whispers in the Sunderland Echo.
In Bob Murray’s autobiography he said that he and other officials/journalists all knew about it and it was being discussed in the hotels around Wembley before the match.

If only we were Manchester City.

The logical flow would be.
  • Club breaches Regulation 127 (Southampton have and have been charged under R127)
  • League investigates under Regulation 84
  • Case is referred to a Disciplinary Commission under Regulation 85.1.2 (it has been)
  • Commission hears the case under Regulations 90–92
  • Commission imposes sanctions under Regulation 93
  • Regulation 93 allows any order it considers appropriate
  • Regulation 94 sets out what happens if that order is expulsion

Cheers 👍

It'll never amount to that but the likelihood of them not being allowed to gain promotion I reckon is pretty high

You reckon other clubs fans are saying this? Surely there must come a point where we accept we have a good team.
I’m sure there’s a few thinking it. I highly doubt Spurs and West Ham thought they would be going head to head for relegation. Anything can happen.
