Southampton spying compendium thread

That would make no sense, if Boro are the ones compromised by this. THEY should have some recompense, not whoever Soton might play in the final. It's a very different situation to the Swindon one all those years ago.
If they’ve been doing it all season it is quite like the Swindon situation. If it was a one off that’s maybe different. But who thinks it was a one off really? Even Boro seem to be arguing it wasn’t.

It’s just another rule being broken so not particularly different imo. If Boro were to have recompense then Southampton would have been disqualified already

Agree with this.
If it turns out that they (Southampton) are in any way behind all this then it's not very likely that this is the first instance of it this season.
Steve Gibson 'fights' for what he believes is right and he's in a position (financially) to take things like this on.
Folk moan about what he supposedly 'did to Derby' but he only fought for what he believed was right (pretty sure it got settled out of court in the end too)
I think the right thing, if proven, is to kick Southampton out. However, the timescales are short and if Boro get knocked out on Tuesday I can't see it being sorted before the play-off final in which case chucking Southampton out will be a non-starter. I can't imagine why they thought this was a good idea.

My sentiments exactly

Latest crack is they aren’t going to contest the fact that the individual was caught spying but are going to claim it was a rogue employee/intern looking to impress and was acting without their knowledge and consent

Sounds like a bit of a stretch to me and even more so when other clubs are apparently saying they had their doubts during the season (although none have direct evidence like the Boro)

I’ve the utmost confidence in the EFL to reach an appropriate decision and taken action commensurate with the issue 🤣🤣🤣

I don't know what came of this so it might have panned out untrue - but after they got caught a "whistleblower" allegedly came forward saying they'd been doing it a lot this season, potentially to everyone.

It might be absolute shite but if there's evidence been put forward? that's going to fly directly in the face of their very unbelievable denial.

The obvious question with regards to the "single rogue employee" defence is "so why was he streaming it live and why did he have equipment that allowed live streaming?"

Got to say I find it hard to sympathise with a club who hate us so openly
They laughed at our dislike of Coventry and the reasons why now they want sympathy from anyone and everywhere
Gibson wanted to stick the boot on derby at the he lowest ebb which was beyond pathetic
These other clubs saying they had ‘doubts’ really, you’ve conveniently just remembered now? Rightio 😂
You seem to be confusing a club with its fans.

Unless they are hoping Boro win and then the problem to a large extent goes away before they have to make a decision ?
Pretty much what they wanted with us and Swindon - they'd made their decision before the final, and Murray said he'd been informed already that we were going up regardless of outcome, but he didn't tell Smith or the team. They were hoping we would win first so they wouldn't have to do anything.
