Sorry, but the Strikers...

I agree that they're very poor strikers but they''ve not been helped by the tactics. From the first game of the season the die was cast, we were the better team everywhere bar the penalty box. The plan seemed to be to rely on Clarke and Roberts to get shots off from 18 yards. Fair enough, but any other angle of attack was cut out - the clue was the fact that the full backs were just sat and so the chances of a cross coming in from an effective position were basically zero. Last season Cirkin & Hume got forward and joined in which made it much harder to defend. But yes the strikers aren't very good either.

First game was Ipswich- they were strong and compact and had a pattern of play, with two or three passes absolutely cutting us open when they needed to. We went ahead when they'd been clean through a few times. They eventually went ahead and let us have the ball, but we got little change out of them centrally. They were better than us. I didn't think it would last but they've added to it and it has.

Yes we play with wingers and yes we're reliant on them, but being largely one dimensional is a by product of not having the quality or experience elsewhere. We often try other things, it doesn't work and we revert to type.

Early season and in that game we'd actually went to something resembling a 433. It's been mentioned a lot by the likes of Speakman and used this season at times and uts likely half the reason for the 'non' centre forwardswe seem intent on buying.

In it we had Ekwah sitting and Jobe left, Neil right and as a result the fullbacks were given limitations, which is natural to not leave yourself open in wide areas and for them to sit in midfield, but hasn't worked when operated mostly this season, players dont understand it or cant operate it and we've abandoned it until recently again.

However in other spells and like yesterday fullbacks certainly were overlapping, but we've also spent the majority of the season without Alese and Cirkin and with Hume on the left. When Huggins was available he got forward as much as anyone so to say 'the die has been cast' is completely wrong.

We're too naive, lack strength and experience being too naive in key areas and weve had key injuries. For too long individual brilliance has got us out of situations because we lack key ingredients despite large percentages of possession, were just really not good enough whichever system we play and the strikers are a large part of that as they don't aid team play and they don't nick us goals. The upshot of that is you then retract and become reliant on the quality you do possess.

They were strong & compact in the middle so what do you do? You go down their flanks. We didn't do it once, so we dominated the ball but did next to nothing with it - good playing it through the thirds & then just stopped meaning it was simple enough for them to counter attack & they did that well enough. That wasn't the way we played last season even after we lost Stewart which was obviously a massive loss as his all round CF play allowed us to play in different modes in the same game. Granted we had Amad last season but we created a lot of overloads on the right which included Hume & Neil. On the left Clarke at least had Cirkin & critically Pritch would drift over there & make both him, and when he was fit, Stewart tick. Would a good CF make a difference? Of course even Speakman seemed to think so despite his flannel to the contrary hence why we were after Moore, but had we signed him we would have needed to a play different style. It's a pity we didn't. I didn't see yesterday's game but in the ones I've seen the full backs have been told to sit. You can sit with one, the one on the opposite to the attack but if you sit with both you'll create very little. Maybe that's because Evans has been unavialble & so vulnerable to the counter, all of which takes us back to Mowbray over a year ago saying we need a 6 and a 9. So, as we all know, KLD & KS' monumental failure in those regards explains why everything else has gone south. Hemir is probably no good, but until someone puts the ball in the box we'll never know.

Rusyn plays left forward of a 3 for the u21's and hemir as the central forward. The game against arsenal mayendar was the right forward of the 3. The u21's play quick passing, sometime long balls for them to chase.

Then they come into the first team and play as a lone striker in a team that pass the ball to death.

They may not be great, but we don't play to their strengths or put them in their proper positions, then we compound that by not having an experienced striker they can learn from and be the deputy for
Our coaching is very poor

Apparently Dodds is well respected but whilst he’s been coaching

We’ve had no idea how to take set pieces
No idea how to defend against set pieces
A keeper now going backwards because of this stupid play from the back
Injuries lasting months rather than weeks
He's well respected by a bloke who thinks beales training sessions are the best he's ever seen. We need to change backroom staff to improve.

Really ? Benno was going mad on the radio saying that Hemir was looking lost in the middle of the pitch. What infuriates me about all of the forwards we’ve got is that none of them seem to make too much effort to get into the box. So many times today we’d get the ball wide and you’d see Hemir sauntering casually towards the penalty area.
And rusyn probably works too hard for his own good, everywhere but in the box
